To understand what is going on behind the scenes with the government shutdown,
you have to appreciate that there are
three political parties in Washington: the conservative or Republican Party,
the liberal or the Democratic Party, and the Tea Party or the gerrymandered party.
Republicans and Democrats have a deep political divide in respect to how
government should function. The Democrats look at government as a caring
government (nanny state) and the Republican look at government as an authoritarian
father that demands discipline of the citizens. Democrats see idealized rule by
all the people (democracy) where Republicans see rule by only the economic
elite (plutocracy). The bottom line is that they both main line parties see government as important.

The Tea Party has a
different philosophy. They model their idealized form of government after
the authoritarian form; thus, are conservative in nature. As stated, Democrats
see government operating at all level of our lives. Republican see government
providing only “essential services”, a phrase that takes on a special restrictive
meaning during a government shut down. In contrast, the #Tea Party sees the ideal situation as no government—none what so ever.
Chaos. Their philosophy is as ridiculous as Rand Paul’s “libertarian” ideology;
a form of government most people would not consider as being a government—tantamount to each person in New York City living as a hermit. It is so ridiculous that most people do not
consider libertarians as a legitimate political party.
Conservatives did not want the government shutdown but allowed
the Tea Party to lead them astray by manipulation of “their” Speakers of the
House. The Tea Party has enough power to “recall” #Speaker Boehner—take his away job. In
addition, using billionaire money, they threaten to promote a primary challenge
against him in his district, therefore remove him from Congress altogether. Democrats
do not want the government to shut down because it will hurt the people, especially
the poor people of the nation. In light of these political circumstances, it
becomes clear why we have the shutdown. The
Tea Party is using the Affordable Health Care act only as an excuse to achieve their
main objective, which is to get rid of government all together. Even if congress
defunded the ACA, thus destroyed it, they would not be happy—they want the hated government gone.
This puts the true conservative party members in a bind. The
American people want the ACA but do not want the shutdown and are blaming the entire
Republican Party for shutting down the government. If the non-Tea party conservatives
are voted out, the only right wing people remaining in office are those from
the radical artificially created districts—Tea Party members.
True Republicans do not want a nanny state, which is how they
look at the #ACA. The dilemma is obvious: they do not want the government to
shut down but do not want ACA. Every observer in Washington realizes that Boehner
could turn his back on the Hastert rule and allow everyone in the House of
Representatives to vote on a continuing resolution unencumbered by amendments
to destroy ACA, which would easily pass. However, if he allowed a vote without
the majority of his party he would give
up his job to those radical Tea Party members who find themselves in congress
because they are from severely gerrymandered districts, which is why I refer to
the Tea party as the Gerrymandered Party. The only hope is that true Republicans
realize that the Tea Party wants a two party system in the United States: the
Tea Party and the Democratic Party. On
the road to destroying the government, they want to destroy and replace the
current Republican Party as the second party in the United States. The crazies in
Iowa might just make Ted Cruz their nominee for president in 2016.
