Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa) was on a morning talk show. At the end of along soliloquy, he had a slight smirk. The thought that entered my mind was why would he do that after just explaining the Republican Party directed 100% no vote by the Senate on the President’s budget plan? He had made the point that his party had passed a number of budget plans but the Democrats had not come up with a budget, which is a lie. The truth is that they have been unable to pass a budget over Repulican filibusters. His punch line; the chief executive of the United States has no budget!
This is easiest to understand on a personal basis. If, in a one a one on one discussion, you propose to me that you will get all of my money and I will get none of yours in exchange, would you agree to that. Of course not, but that is exactly what Toomey was saying. If the rich in the nation gets all of the money and the middle class gets none, would the House of Representative agree to that? You can be one hundred percent sure, they would not vote for their plan and that their objective was to say what he had just said. It was not talking about good governance; he was talking smack.
His was satisfied that he had a “great” selling point gave rise to his smirk. This sneer meant that he felt he had won a great debating point. The truth is that by his smirk I knew that he felt he knew what he said was a lie. He knew Democrats would never agree to cut the throats of working people in the United States to benefit those who had already benefited the most. The irony is that he, at least the campaign donors who bought his vote, wants is a budget exactly as the one proposed; that is the Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) budget plan. I is designed to turn the middle class into a huge pool of cheap labor for big business to exploit: no unions, low pay, no EPA, no OSHA, etc.. Even Reagan and Bush couldn't do that. If that is too indirect for you to understand, read Charles Dickens’s books not so much to find out where we have been but to find out where we are going or better yet read Ayn Rand’s book The virtues of Selfishness to find out why we are going to get there.
