OBAMA AND GUNS

The word on the street is that President Obama is going to issue an executive order today to initial gun control. This is sure to ignite a firestorm started and fueled by the irrational radical right. Along with abortion, gun control is a signature issue of this group. The missing element in all of their arguments is ‘rationality’. Many of my relatives are among this group. Some of them have college degrees. Somehow, they seem to feel that the Constitution gives them the right to have guns. In addition, they seem to think there is no difference between guns. To think a punk walking the streets in the inner city with a snub nose 38 is the same as a kid carrying a 22 rifle while hunting rabbits. They seem to think no one can tell the difference between an assault rifle and a 12-gage shotgun. In their mind, it is rational to have an assault rifle under you pillow.
