COWARDLY CONGRESS BUILDS OBAMA PRESIDENCY

Bought and paid for politicians are protecting the American people even when their sponsors want them to destroy our democracy and replace it with a plutocracy. The first step to understanding what is happening is to appreciate what the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision did to democracy. Nefarious political operative manipulated the Federal Court system two ways. The first way was to polarize Supreme Court nominees by mounting a well-funded campaigns for the most radical nominees they could find which turned out to be Alito and Roberts. The second way was to fire as many liberal judges as “they” could around the country and replacing them with Republican judges. Both of these things were the work of the now infamous duo, George W. Bush, and Karl Rove; Bush gave Rove, his political advisor, unbelievable power. The Citizens United decision was a direct result of having these Justice sitting on the bench. Very rich people could now buy politicians, which they did.

These bought and paid for politicians are now the majority of setting congressional representative from gerrymandered districts. Of course, they vote the way their sponsors tell them to vote, which is why we see all of these strange things happening in government. For example, we see social issues such as same-sex marriage, abortion, voter suppression, etc. filling congressional agenda as opposed to serious domestic economic programs or international relation issues that should be tops. For example, in my state of North Carolina, Art Pope’s government attempted to establish a state religion, which failed, as well as a success in outlawing of Sharia Law. Pope could care less; he is making money off poor people with his dollar stores.

These social issues attract a few radical one-issue voters but have no universal appeal to attract voter, so the results are low turn-out elections. We see Congress fail to do the will of the people on issue after issue that has popular support in the range of 80 to 90% favoring but invariably fail by a slim margin in Congress. Examples of federal level issues they vote on are subsidies for rich oil companies that pass by a small margin or are NRA issues that fail by a small margin. The people see this failed government as recorded by pollsters who report embarrassingly low teen levels of support for Congress.

Upon examining this phenomenon, which is that they seem to bend over backward to avoid voting on anything except their one issue, I realized these politicians are cowards. If they vote against their sponsors' wish they will not be reelected, and if they vote against what the people want, they will not be re elected—the answer is not to vote on important things. They are only interested in voting their one personalized social issue and in voting as their sponsors tell them to vote. They are not genuinely interested in good government as a majority of politicians of old. Consequently, they give up their legislative responsibility. Their sponsors allow them to vote against social security, food stamps and increasing taxes on the rich but not much more.

However, there is good news in all of this. When we step back and look at government as a whole, we see three branches working in checks and balance. The only branch they do not control is the presidency. Of course, we are about to see in the 2016 campaigns, they will do everything they can include to lie, cheat, and steal to get that third leg. Regardless, for now the result is that President Obama rules. He stands alone with the people against the economic elite.

He is building a tremendous legacy for promoting health care, correcting a broken immigration system, protecting us with the drone program, prevent the warmongers from starting multiple wars, blocking all attempts to corrupt voting, re-install such things a segregation, to introduce religion into government, and standing with the people on issue after human rights issue. The list is long and diverse, which brings us to the main message in this blog post; the cowardly politicians we have all love to hate, by not governing and otherwise basically trying to destroy the government by default have set the stage for a great presidency, the presidency of Barack H. Obama. It is time for liberal around the country as well as around the world to acknowledge that fact.
