Teenage cyber-bullying has gotten out of hand. A recent Ted
Talk, given by Monica Lewinski called it to our attention in a big way. She is
a celebrity, which helps to give her message notoriety. Talk show hosts are
discussion the subject at length and pointing out statistics concerning
suicides and illustrating poignant antidotes as told by the unfortunate victim
of the practice. Those who are doing the bullying look at themselves as being
superior to those they are bullying, which is implicit in what they are saying.
They often suggesting the are big tough fist swinging guys or if it is a female
as being dainty, pretty girls. Of course, they can say anything they wish
because they are hiding behind the anonymity of the internet. The “talking
heads” on the TV screen carefully explain that the anonymity is why the do
this. I find the entire scene interesting.

A classic video clip repeatedly seen on TV depicts a teenager bent over a table
preparing to sniff cocaine and his father at the door saying, “Where did you
learn to do that?” The boy answers, “From watching you Dad, from watching you!”
Think about that for a minute. Are parents the ones who are guilty of
cyber-bullying and are their children learning from them? The knee-jerk
response is, of course not. When I examine the political scene in the United
States that is not what I see implied; much of it is not anonymous, but it is
still vicious, hurtful bullying.
Cyber-bullying has taken it to a new level. In fact, it has
taken over our political world. I read as much as I can take of +Personal
Liberty Digest. A strange phenomenon has taken place over the past six to eight
years; the authors of the articles are catching up to the comments in terms of
viciousness rather than the other way around. Over time, the authors seem to be
learning from the anonymous bullying by the readers and are feeding into it.
The articles are starting to catch up to the viciousness of the sentiments
expressed in the comment on those articles. It has become a vicious never-ending
cycle of cyber bullying. I will cite several comments to make my point, all
from just one article published in Personal Liberty Digest. You can know it is
bullying because they are all ad hominem, and there is not one fact based
statement in all of the comments. The
parallel with teenage cyber bullying should be obvious.
I will cite several comments to
make my point, all from just one article published in Persona Liberty
Digest;
He is the biggest piece of GARBAGE
EVER WASHED UP ON AMERICAN SOIL!
IMPEACH HIM, DRAG HIS TRAITOR BUTT
OUT OF OUR WHITEHOUSE, AND GIVE US AN
AMERICAN PRESIDENT.
Obama was put here as a child, even
though born in Kenya according to his living uncles.
Obama's excessive use of Executive
Order as a way to by-pass the Constitution of the United States is alone enough
to impeach him, as he should have been in his first four years.
How did this COMMUNIST ever get
elected???
I wonder how many people here would
cheer if somebody attempted to assassinate Barrack Obama?
Are you prepared to accept that teenagers wrote these
comments? Did the parents of teenagers write them? The bigger question is who
is learning from whom?
Yes, cyber-bullying is bad, and you should stop it. The hate
for Obama is without foundation, and it all starts in your living room.
