There seems to be a social phenomenon at play. I find reading the right wing media interesting. I have not done so but it would be interesting to grade their stories as to the degree or intensity of the hate they express and relate that to what they use as comparisons. For example, Obama is as bad as Hitler is or as despicable as Osama bin Laden is or was. Add to these remarks statements such as Obama is Muslim or Obama is gay. What is most interesting are personal attacks such as the one made by +Ben Crystal in +Personal Liberty Digest this morning, “someone should slap him alongside his undersized head.” Recently, they compare him to Islamic terrorists.
They pick what in their minds is the most hateful thing they can think of, to make the comparison. I now realize what these authors do and say is predictable. They reference subjects making current headlines. Couple this with Obama’s successes, which is hard to do because there are so many of them. This tends to blend into a general but unsubstantiated hate for the President, meaning the say “I hate him” but fail to include a “because”. They make up something disparaging, for example, the above reference to his undersized head. In addition, many of Obama’s accomplishments are substantial but require a degree of understanding of which these authors are just not capable. This latter aspect is carried over to the readers; I read about 100 comments written in response to a recent article about how Obama was an “Islamofacist” because he wouldn’t call Muslims fascists. This subject made and is still making headlines in the radical right wing media. The people posting the comment displayed pictures of themselves often with a gun of some sort in hand—one person even had two guns; twice as tough or was he twice as scared of his own shadow.
My reply to a commenter, who was convinced that the President was an Islamofacist” and a coward because he would not call all Muslims terrorist, was that President Obama said, “No boots on the ground.” This means the Muslim, not us, will have to defeat the extreme evil elements in their midst. Unlike bomb, bomb +John McCain and +Lindsey Graham, most of us as a country, learned in the Vietnam War that we could fight for what we believe is right but if the people do not want it, we will spill a lot of blood for nothing. We see ISIS slaughtering Muslims right and left, but so do they; Obama says it is their choice. They can drag the +Personal Liberty Digest readers around by the nose by a 3-minute beheading video of a Western journalist. They can make these God fearing gun-toting idiots believe it is an all-out war between radical Christian verses Muslim, which is done to cover their real objective, which is for one Islamic sect to gain absolute total power over another sect. They want readers of Personal Liberty Digest, with all of their bibles and guns, to help them kill more +Muslims. Of course, the Saudis are funding much of it with American money gained by selling oil to people who read the Personal Liberty Digest—now I am being a sarcastic. The +Saudis do this in support of their own sect, Al Queda of the Arabian Peninsula.
