MEDIA REFLECTS CONGRESSIONAL SHAME

I find the news coverage of Congress since Jan 1 very strange. Apparently, the right wing media is avoiding even mentioning the legislation they have passed. At first I though it was because they were ashamed of what they were doing; authorizing a Canadian tar-sands oil company the right of eminent domain over 100 or so Kansas farmers to move Canadian oil across the country to Texas to refine it and ship the product to China while leaving leave the air pollution in the U.S.. We could mention the setting up of Social Security disability program as the first step in destroying the entire program or the undermining of ACA disguised as cutting medical device taxes.

After thinking about it, I realized they are not ashamed of what they are doing; quite the opposite, they are proud of it. I should rephrase that; the people who are in control of congress, the Koch brothers, for example, are proud of what Congress is doing. They are also aware that the people of the United States may be shocked when they realize that the economic elite have duped them and Congress is doing exactly what the people do not want. As a result, they suppress media coverage . . . need I mention that the economic elite also control the media.

I remember large majorities of the people who wanted such things as gun control legislation, or stopping subsidies for oil companies, and supporting things they really wanted like expanding social security and affordable health care. Although surveys indicated 70, 80, and even 90 percent of voter prefer certain, Congress would not pass the needed legislation. Check the votes; they do not reflect what the people want; 100% Republicans and a few blue dogs in support and 95% of Democrats oppose these moves; now Republican puppets have the majority so they do not even need the blue dogs, they can do what they want, and that is what they are doing.

Check out the right-wing media, immigration is on the Congressional chopping block this morning; the left wing media will be screaming like everything but silence on the right.
