OBAMA AND MEDIA CONFLICT

It is amazing what this populist President has been able to do in spite of congress attempting to block every move. What is even more amazing is that both the U.S. and world media reporting on economically how good things are in the United States avoided given the President credit. In reference to all the blame heaped on his shoulders for high gas prices, he a rare sarcastic moment quipped, “I don’t hear anyone blaming me for low gas prices”.

The “do nothing congress” provides the president the opportunity to do these things the people who want these things done, which is precisely what makes them populist things. By doing what the people want, the economy is booming. For a supporter of the people like me and other liberals, at first blush, it seems the law “retards” him from doing even more. However, as liberals, we support the democratic principles of “for and by the people”, meaning all people, and the separation of powers as written in the constitution. Unlike the “lock and load” conservatives who tell us they are the ones who support the constitution when what they really want is to take the power form the people and put in  the hands of “some of the people”, the economic elite. If we did not have those laws restricting what the president or congress can do by themselves, we would put ourselves in danger of having a Republican President and/or Republican congress who would run wild deregulating industry, polluting the environment, destroying welfare, cutting taxes to starve the government, giving power to “their” police,  torturing people, putting them in black prisons on suspicion alone, etc. We know what would happen.

Sadly, we are only a few days away from finding out what it is like to have a rogue congress run by the greedy; the greed for power and the greed for money. True, to the principle of American democracy, we can only hope the greed for power holds the greed for money in check or visa versa. If not we have to hope the President of the United States of America we have been blessed to have, Barrack Hussein Obama can. He has been exemplary up until now, but time will tell because hell the media won’t

You Republicans are always telling us that big money corrupted congress, we have the best congress money can buy, and all politicians are crooks. As of January 1, if they say they will wake up and start doing things and that we will see them in action, which will make the working people of the America sorry. I hope not!
