Certain groups have found they can mentally fatigue the public through clever use of the media. The underlying premise is that certain groups use this technique for nefarious purposes. There is a saying, if you tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.” If we step back and ask what it takes to do this, we realize it takes two things: money and sympathizers, which are the reasons the designs of our laws are the way they are. One person, organization, or corporation should not be able to control all the radio stations, TV stations, and newspapers in a geographic region—it is alarming that the geographic regions involved has rapidly expanded from town, city, county, and country to the entire world. It also explains why there has been a long and constant drumbeat by those groups to overturn such laws. In other words, these groups use the same technique we are trying to use protect ourselves to create the situation where they can use that method to weaken if not completely trash those hard earned measures of protection. It is usually a slow and relentless process but at times, they have made sudden and great advances, which is in part, the message contained in Shock Doctrine (2007); author Naomi Klein explains that wars, natural disaster, as well as man-made crises (economic) contribute greatly to this demise. The evidence they have been successful is the fact that our media, in some cases, the worldwide media, is controlled by a very few individuals, usually leaders of special interest groups. The scope and importance of the issues, political, social, religious, may change but the fact of special interest group control does not. Regardless, the objective usually is to cause people to believe the distortion of the truth, twisting of the sin, or to be more candid, a lie.
These were the thought coursing through my mind as I watched Naftali Bennett, Israel’s Minister of Economy being interviewed by Joe Scarborough this morning on MSNBC as he talked about the upcoming March elections and factors which impact it. He predicted, rightfully, I might add, that Netanyahu would unquestionably win; thus, the election would give him and his extreme rightwing more power. Of course, it should be obvious to everyone that this means more, increased intensity in the war in the Middle East, and forever ensure absolute dominance over Gaza and the West bank and prevent peace with the Palestinians. Not unexpectedly, Joe jumped in with scurrilous remarks about Secretary of State John Kerry’s efforts to find a peaceful settlement. In that context, Ambassador Bennett, with a wry smirk on this face, declared foreign powers should keep their noses out of Israeli’s business. He didn’t hesitate to say America was Israel’s greatest ally as if Kerry was not representing the United States. The entire interview was despicable. MSNBC producers should have stopped the interview or at least make a disclaimer that it was not the view of the station. In fact, if I were owners of the station I would have fired Joe. It was an obvious and terribly one-sided diatribe. Not once did Joe or anyone else on the show challenge him or even ask the obvious question, to find out why Palestinians are so unhappy. Then came the big lie; a serious-faced Bennett explained the Palestinians have ever reason to be happy. Implying they are living in as fair a democracy as that in the United States. This only adds to the big lie perpetuated by the media by repeating it over and over again. Everyone knows this is a lie. Everyone knows tying the United States to Israel in this way, our enemy is our enemy, does not make us responsible for mistreating Palestinians; it is Israel. The purpose of Israel is to have a 100% controlled Jewish state. It is the reason I strongly supported the partitioning of Palestine and Israel in the first place and is the reason I now strongly support a two-state solution, and why I support Sec. Kerry and President Obama’s efforts to find a peaceful solution to the problem. It is the reason I do not support Netanyahu, but do support a Jewish dictatorship in a one state Israel. In fact, Bennett openly acknowledged but did not say this in that context; Netanyahu will use his newly enhance power to provoke continued unrest and use the turmoil to both hide and justify Israeli confiscation of more Palestinian land. Doesn’t anyone notice that he called the election in the wake of the recent Palestinian uprising?
