Sometimes I intentionally ruffle feathers by making controversial
comments while other times I make such statements because I think I should make
them. With that in mind, I recently made the statement in comment on an article
published in a right wing publication (Personal Liberty Digest); Republicans control the media. I
believe the statement is unequivocally true. I made the statement in passing
not thinking it would be controversial. Was I wrong! Those who responded called
me “numb nuts” and “idiot”, among many other names I do not care to repeat. The
names were in keeping with the four letter words, as the folks who comment in
this publication are prone to do. The message in their comments was clear, liberals,
not the radical right, controls the media. They are about to be proven wrong.
Tonight, during prime time, 8 P.M. east coast and 5 P.M.
west coast, the +President of the United States, Barrack Obama, is going to deliver
a historic policy speech explaining his executive action on the important issue
of immigration. He has taken action to
solve a serious problem the Congress has refused to take up because of the need
for individuals to record their vote. Certain Republicans (Tea Party) do
not want to have there names associated with their negative votes; votes
against Latinos and Asians. There should be millions of TV viewers, more than
any super bowl game, that is, there should be more views than usual listening
to the President because the American people have debated this issue extensively.
For President Obama to take executive action is highly controversial, only because
he is doing it.
The American people including the Republicans expect him to
put in place solutions with which the radical right does not agree. Yes, I am
implying that a minority of Republicans, the radical minority, controls the Congress
and the media. According to vote counters, if what he is going to do came before
that body as a piece of legislation, for a vote, it would easily pass. In other
words, the American people agree with him and should be excited to hear him do
it. Guess what! Almost all of the major channels: ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and Fox
will not broadcast the speech. Only MSNBC will air the speech as it the
President delivers his speech. Tonight, the major networks will prove my
thesis. The right wing controls the media!
