Corporations got what they wanted but what does that mean to
you. After yesterday’s disaster for the people of the United States it is time
to do what the people should do should have done months ago, which to predict
what will happen after the Republicans take complete control of Congress. I know people are tired of hearing
predictions of any kind but this is important; it is also easy because they
told us what they are going to do. In respect to predicting the election
outcome, the most telling poll was that 70% of Americans were convinced the country
was moving in the wrong direction. The Republican controlled House of Representatives
and the corrupt the Supreme Court cleverly orchestrated this belief. Rather than
enact legislation Republicans wanted and reveal their hand, they blocked essentially
all government function, which terribly frustrated the people, and blamed the
President and his party for all government inaction—it worked. I have to admit
that I did not believe the body politic would believe this but it did in the
form of a clean electoral sweep for Republicans. Like in North Carolina and many
other states, they will use their newfound power to corrupt the electoral
process; thus, perpetuate their power. They learned that they can “cheat to
defeat”.
They told us they were going to turn the government over to
corporate America but few voters seem to understand what this means even though
they obviously voted to kick down the barn while holding their hand close to
the breast. Campaign rhetoric cleverly diverted attention from what the result are
gong to mean in terms of “kicking down” the barn”. The reference is to an old
trope that says it takes hard work and clever planning to build a barn but any
jackass can kick one down; that has proved accurate once again. The recent election
result is not surprising; it was predictable when the polls results revealed
the 70% figure; however, now is time to look at the jackass.
As I have pointed out repeatedly, Obama stands alone;
November 4 did not change that. Therefore, first and most important is that President
Obama is the only thing that stands between corporate America and radical right
wing Fox news types and working America.
The first clue to what is going to happen is to look at the
path they are already following. They are following and will continue to follow
the Harvard Business School approach to corporate America which puts corporate profit
above all else. Don’t be confused by the rhetoric as it relates to cutting
taxes to small business; they speak of cutting taxes on small business they
mean cutting taxes on General Electric, General Motors, AT&T, which are not
small businesses. We know that as it is now, only one in four corporations pay
taxes.
Taxes; if corporations pay taxes
their profits will fall
Minimum wage; if corporations pay
more wages, profits fall.
Unions; if there are unions, wages
are higher; therefore, profits fall.
Income gap; closing gap means
workers will demand higher wages cuts profits.
Equal pay for equal work is dead. A
woman belongs in the kitchen not in corporate America.
Each one of these items impact society at all levels;
however, taxes is most far-reaching. Corporate America wants to destroy
government, which is directly counter to the Constitution, which says one-man
one-vote. One vote implies that each vote has equal influence, which is what made
America, America. In 1776, this was unique. It took power out of the hands of
those special few. In those days it royalty, but in modern context it is
corporate money, or the economic elite. Ronald Reagan started the country on
the downward spiral. I believe instinctual greed and not intellect drove him politically;
regardless, what he did is proving devastating to democracy. What does cutting
taxes mean? Start with education:
This election continues the demise
of public schools; in fact accelerates it, which forces opening the need of
private schools available only to the rich.
As public schools deteriorate and
private schools flourish, bussing programs deteriorate meaning poor neighborhoods
will have the poorest schools.
Limiting school to neighborhoods
restores re-segregation.
End of taxpayer support of colleges
result in increases in tuition making higher education too expensive for working
families making it exclusively available to the rich.
It forces University administrators
to open their doors to corporate America through patentable research for profit
through grants, which funnels what little taxpayer support there is for
universities into the pockets of corporate America.
With the death of public education, the American dream of
equal opportunity is gone. Like our educational system, our dream of a society
where everyone has equal opportunity is disappearing in other ways. For
example, our combinations of free enterprise with socialism will die in corporate
America. Affordable health care and social security will disappear which means
health care costs will once again become unaffordable and old age poverty will
increase. Price fixing monopoly will rein supreme destroying and not reinforcing
free enterprise.
Free enterprise is not all that is on track to be trashed. As
I said before, each one of these items impact society at all levels; however,
the bottom line is that corporate America wants to destroy government, which is
directly counter to the Constitution; thus . . . O.M.G. . . . they
want to trash the Constitution. I do not think you can convince me that I am
wrong—please try.
