A fellow named Bob Livingston, an ex legislator from Louisiana,
is the founder and publisher of, Personal
Liberty Digest, a publication of little merit. He has amassed a coterie of
radical right wing contributing authors I read for the same reason I listen to
Joe Scarborough week day Mornings. The Personal
Liberty Digest authors are as crude in what they say, as Joe is smooth in
what he says. Clearly, they are my political opposition but by paying attention
to them, I feel I have my finger on the pulse of what is all that remains of
the Republican Party. Joe claims to be a small government conservative and
making this claim is rational, however, he does not miss a change to belittle
Obama. Livingston’s authors, on the other hand, are consistently as raucous and
outrageous as Glenn Beck is, jumping from out right lying to making ridiculously
outrageous charges with little in between. Both have the same objective, or
should I say non-objective, which is essentially to destroy our capitalist-social
government, as it is now, and replace it with laissez-faire capitalism, a
government that does nothing for the people (Joe) to completely destroying any form
of government and never defining how they would replace it, which could only be
anarchy.

Like the hordes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh listeners, I
often wonder what the people who read Bob Livingston actually think—to figure
out where they are coming from. I consider those who listen to Joe Scarborough rational
to a point; they cannot have all the government social programs they say they
want unless they pay for them but they become a bit irrational when they say
they hate the national debt then declare they do not want to pay taxes as if
they do not see a connection. The Bob Livingston readers were a complete
mystery. Recently, I started to comment on some of the articles written in
Personal Liberty Digest never expecting a response; actually, I thought they
might refrain from publishing my comment. That did not happen; they published
them and I did receive an occasional comment. The comments were enlightening in
a “Oh my God” way. Here is an example of a response as it was written without
corrections:
“people
it time to get rid of the democrats they are trying to take away our freedon on
ever thing that our forfather fought for come novenber let us show them that
the people is still in charge so let vote them out”
I responded, as follows with typos and all, by asking the
responder’s author, a woman from Kentucky, to name one freedom the Democrats
have taken away from her.
“Name
one thing we are trying to get rid of our fore fathers fsaught for.”
Her response, again as written;
“they
fought for our freedom from england did you study your histor lesson if not
find you a histor book and start studing it and find out you might be supprise”
My response was as follows, which is still waiting for an
answer:
“Are
you saying we do not have freedom form England? Read Seeds of Albion (see
internet), you might learn something. The forefathers gave the vote to
individuals and not corporation. I am still waiting for you to name one thing .
. .just one thing.”
Although I made a mistake in the book title, I was referring
to the book, Albion's Seed: Four British
Folkways in America (America: A Cultural History) [David Hackett Fischer,
which is available on Amazon.com, I do not expect an answer.
Clearly, from this exchange, some of the people who read the
Personal Liberty Digest and or listen to right wing talk radio live in an
isolated world of their own making, a surreal world where reality has no place.
This woman’s world seems to be bizarre where she thinks history would be surprise
me when what really surprises me is her wacky understanding of history. I
investigated her on the internet and found similar post some dealing with her
love of God but mostly dealing with her hate for Obama but could not find one reason
why she harbors such deep felt hate. The only reasonable conclusion seems she
has this hate because Bob Livingston, a well-educated and one-time elected representative
to congress, and his authors tell her what she should have in her heart. Of course,
this leaves the question of why are they telling her that. I can only guess that
without people like her Joe Scarborough type Republicans would be in a minority,
exactly where I think they should be
