All the polls indicate Republicans are going to take over
the Senate and retain control of the House of Representatives. Can anyone tell me
why? Seriously, why would anyone vote for Republican? I read a lot of right
wing press and listen to right wing news, which they base everything they say on
hate—it is difficult to find one single solid argument they make in support of anything.
They seem to hate everything. They hate the government; they hate regulations
at all levels; they hate our micro and macro economics (paper money); they hate
police, FBI, CIA, and NSA, they hate all politicians; they hate, hate, and hate.
I have struggled for a long time to understand what they don’t hate.

The sweep of their hate is so broad I concluded their hate is
universal, which makes absolutely no sense until you start asking why such nonsense;
only one answer seems feasible. It can only be that they hate everything because
they are not in charge; they are not the boss. Why else would they want people
to vote for them for public office if they hate “all” people in public office and
hate the job politicians do? All people are narcissistic to some degree or another;
they are not self-loathing. Why would they put themselves in a position where
they would hate them selves? Again, this
also makes no sense.
All these question do not answer the question of why would
anyone vote for someone who hates everything. Somehow or another, Republicans
had to turn all this hate around so it seems as though it benefits those who
are voting. Frank Lutz, a political operative, runs around making headlines by
finding out what people like and do not like. Karl Rove runs around debunking
anyone that has a positive solution to what Frank Lutz discovered. At the top
of the list of things they “hate” the most is paying taxes—Rove tells “you” that
you worked hard to earn it so you should keep it. Next to hating taxes, people “hate”
being told what to do by anyone but especially government, which leads to “hate”
government and “hate” regulations of any kind—Rove tells people that without
government you would be free do what ever you want to do. Thus, the Roves of
the political world turn all of this into to hateful bumper sticker logic,
which sells the idea that voters some how do not have to think about the
consequences of their action in the voter’s booth. If you do not pay taxes,
government collapses and if you do not have government, you do not have regulations
or anyone to enforce them therefore everyone has total personal freedom—they
can do what they want, when they want with anyone they want, wherever they want
to do it, which is the definition of chaos.
No one wants chaos; we know society could not survive, but
that is what Republicans are selling. However,
that is not what we would get if we were foolish enough to vote them into
control, which it looks like we are gong to do. We would get just the opposite.
In other words, it is bait and switch. Regulations for corporations would
disappear, also taxes for corporations would disappear, and the “new”
government would increase taxes and law enforcement on the individual people;
just the opposite of what they profess to want to do. I live in North Carolina
and saw all of this and much more take place when the Republican took over all
branches of our State government.
They are not shy to tell you this if you would listen. For
example, there is a huge ad buy on national TV using this bumper sticker logic;
the ads say to corporations to come to New York; no business taxes, no property
taxes, strict enforcement of Taft Hartley (1947), etc. They do not tell you who
is going to pay for the water, sewer, the police, and fire protection, for the
highways and all the other things government does. Ever state that is under
control of Republicans is doing the same thing. Clearly, it is a shift of taxes
from corporations to workers but of more importance, it is a shift of government control from the people to corporations, a
shift from democracy to plutocracy. As steep as it is, we will all pay that
price. Again, can anyone tell me why
he or she would vote to do this?
