PUTTING ISRAEL'S EXISTENCE IN THEIR OWN HANDS

At last, President Obama is tired of pussyfooting around the Middle East. Finally, he has said to Benjamin Netanyahu, “You have blocked ever effort the United States has made to help settle the situation. You and your U.S. lobby have made it impossible to settle any issue.” Everyone knows they have taken advantage of the existing turmoil and will perpetuate the unrest to keep, and even expand, Israeli land holdings—building more and more settlements until you get it all. Obama is the not the first president who recognized that the Israelis will not be happy until they have satisfied your unpardonable greed and squeezed the Palestinians into the sea and drown them like lemmings. However, he is the first president bold enough, and smart enough, to do something about it. To understand the intelligence behind this move, compare the clever diplomatic language with the fact on the ground. The American people are sick and tired of having to face the same old Middle East problem for over 65 years—they accept, with open arms, the idea that our President is taking a “hands off” approach, which justifies my use of the word ‘finally’. We will have to wait and see how the American Jewish community, as opposed to the American Israeli community—a tests of loyalties. I am betting on America.

By saying to the Israelis, you have to solve your own problem with the Palestinians; he is saying to them that you have to solve “your own” problem with the entire Arab World. Every Israeli knows that without the counter balance of the United States massive presence, the equally massive and overwhelming political forces in the area’s surrounding nations will force a settlement that favors Palestine. This will undo the UN partition vote of 1949 that established Israel, which will essentially wipe Israel off the map. The president is saying you have every right to exist as a free and independent nation but only if you act like one.
