RADICAL RADIO RUBBISH

It was interesting to watch a YOUTUBE video of a 12-year old boy challenging a Las Vegas police officer for parking his motorcycle on the sidewalk while he bought a soft drink. What was even more intriguing was to listen to a person named Alex Jones step-by-step turn this story into a horrendous David-Goliath tale in support of his conspiracy theory, which is that the government controls every aspect of our lives. Jones is a “hate the government at all costs” radio talk show host like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck—his competition, both of whom Jones claims to hate. His fabrication is elegant in its simplicity, which is the special talent of these kinds of people who target an audience of people who have limited reasoning power.

Follow the Alex Jones fabrication, which is no different than it would be if Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck were to tell the tale; this young, diminutive boy dares to challenge an authority figure, which makes him the envy of all right-wing radicals. The police officer is obviously in the wrong; therefore, he is immediately made to represent “all” police officers, all over the nation. The boy asks to see the badge number of the officer who ignores the request. Jones makes the point that it is a “legal right” for a citizen to ask to see any officers badge number. The officer asks the boy who he is and what is his objective is which Jones claims the officer does not have the legal right to do. From there Jones further aggrandized the story to include all “brave citizens” like the “boy hero” who dares to stand up to authority, which suddenly is “all police officers”; of course, all the brave citizens are the ones who listen to Alex Jones. As an aside, these are the type of people who see themselves as John Wayne. The next step Jones takes is to make that errant lonely police officer on his motorcycle represents all police officer, which by now represents the enemy that violates the law. Therefore, the enemy is the government. In a fit of jingoism, Jones reminds us that the “founding fathers” did not intend for police officers to overuse authority as they all clearly do. This means that “all” police officer are not patriotic as Jones is. The obvious conclusion is that the government has turned into an authoritarian, dictatorship to be hated, which as you guessed it, is proved by the fact that a police officer parked on a sidewalk to do some frivolous thing like buy a big-gulp soft drink—just to show that he can. Can you imagine people believe this? Did I mention Alex Jones takes in about 1.5 million dollars a year on his radio show, which means some one is buying the products he advertises.
