In a way, I feel duped by my government. The deception is
simple. The government told us for years that we are energy dependent on
foreign nations. For years, it was the Middle East with #Saudi Arabia in the
forefront and somehow that meant we should hate #Arabs or Muslims. Then it was #Iran,
so we overthrew their government an installed the Shah as a puppet. Then we saw
an opportunity to take over #Iraqi oil fields, we started a war looking for
weapons of mass destruction, but what we found were oil fields in mass
disrepair—it would take more money to development them the companies could make
(Let’s not mention the dead). Through all of this, we were bombed with ads
telling us “we had to” develop oil fields in wild life areas. If the oil was
there just for the cost of drilling, it made no sense to the greedy to just to
leave it there. We went through an era of massive campaigns by #T. Boon
Pickens, telling us that natural gas was everywhere and all we had to do was
use fracking to get more that we could use. We were told we could become energy
independent by people like #Dick Cheney, who hunker down in secret conclaves to
develop and energy policy—written exclusively by energy companies with the EPA
no where to be seen. The “Bush government” staffed the Mineral Management Services,
a government-controlling agency supposedly representing the people, with oil company
employees, just like is happening in now Texas, North Dakota, West Virginia,
and North Carolina. To hell with the environment, to hell with safety, and to
hell with contaminated water supplies, to hell with our rivers, just think of
all the dollars our “job creators” could make.

The #Keystone Pipeline is often in the headlines but also
the subjects of ads, which we see several times a day. The media does not tell
you that the companies are thumbing their noses at our government, and are
building the pipeline all over the place without approval; again to hell with
the environment. In addition, what they don’t tell you is that they are
shipping tar sands oil from north to south across the entire country through
and over water ways, etc to existing (meaning the jobs are already there) oil refineries
in Texas, then shipping the product to #China. So much for fighting to develop “self
sustainable” energy supply in the United States. The only thing left in the United
States, if Texas does not succeed, is the dirty air from those refineries.
As often happens, some times a simple cartoon tells it all; it
was a picture of the United States surrounded by oil tankers. Significantly, the
cartoonist drew all transports pointing over seas. We have been duped, big time by the fighting for a sustainable energy
supply. We have dumped huge amounts of taxpayer money into developing
alternative energy resources. Our environment and our government is what oil companies
are trashing, if it already has not been trashed. I heard Texas Governor #Rick
Perry, you know the guy who hates the U.S. government, on #Morning Joe (MSNBC)
this AM. He was saying what we “need” is to deregulate. We “need” to get rid of
the EPA. We “need” to drill anywhere there is gas or oil.
Readers could look at this post as a warning; Russia’s #Putin
has threatened to invade the Ukraine, the oil hub of south Russia. Germany gets
its energy via that region, #French sells arms to Russia, and #Britain serves as
the economic hub of Russia. Thus, the industrial titan has the #European Union in
its grip. We all know that in the United States, the Republican Party is and
arm of that same titan of multinational corporations—taxpayers even subsidize
the most profitable oil companies in the world; liberals call corporate welfare.
These facts form the basis of my
prediction that the oil industry will maximize the use of the Putin threat to
expand their reach in to National parks all wildlife preserves, Alaska North
Slope, and force the government to issue offshore drilling rights to these
corporations. “Our oil industry” could supply the energy to Europe. In
addition, you know what, the American people
will support those oil companies once they are convinced thy must rally
around the America Flag because that it is the patriotic thing to do—like we did
when we went looking of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
By the way, I hope Texas succeeds from the Union; that would
mean Perry would not be a U.S. citizen, therefore could not be president; count
your blessing where you can find them.
