Personal Liberty Digest is a misleading publication that deserves
special mentioned because it is so misleading. That sounds like double talk
until one actually looks at it in its entirety. Even it’s subtitle, Live Free in an Unfree (sec) World is misleading. Why do I bother reading
such a libertarian publication; it is such a misguided source of information? I
read it for the same reason I listen to Republican Fox news lie machine. It
prepares me for what will show up in the daily news and in Republican rhetoric—politicians
call them talking points. It gives me time to think through a response to them
even before a Republican uses them in arguments against me and my liberalism.
In addition, I try to understand why they believe as they do, which is the fun
thing to do.
A classic example was this morning’s
article by Chip Wood, who is an editor of the publican in question. He is also
the founder of another deceptively labeled and misleading publication, Soundview and radical right wing talk
radio show host. He based his article, The
Dirty Deal for a Clean Debt Bill, on a lie he dogmatically proclaims to be
the truth:
“. . . they gave Barack Obama permission to spend as much money as
he wants over the next year — with absolutely no strings attached.”
The pronoun ‘they’ in this statement
refers to Republicans in congress. You do not have to read any further. Everything
in the entire statement is false. Everyone who reads or listens to mainline
media or has gone through a civics class in school knows that the debt ceiling
increase is to pay for things on which congress has already spent taxpayers’ money.
They also know that the Congress of the United States and not the President
holds the purse stings on taxpayers’ money. This begs the question, “Who reads
this stuff?” Who listens to his Atlanta based radio broadcasts?
The answer to these questions point
to more than an education failure, rather it points to something much worse; there is massive miss-education going on in
this country. The real question
should be why miss-education, who is behind it? What is their objective? I am
serious when I say that I think the answer is in our genes; thus, has to do
with our biologically endowed drive for survival. I am not trying to put them
down but rather, am seriously trying to explain why they think the why they do.
Bob Livingston, Chip Wood, and people like him seem to be more prone than most
people are to be living at a primitive bestial level of hierarchy dominance.
They will never be content until they are at the top of the hierarchy—the top
chicken; the top chicken lives the best. The problem is that they do not have
the intellect, strength, or influence to be “the” leader of a group; thus, are doomed
to the frustration of being the leader of only themselves—the definition of ‘individualism’.
The only way they can have success is to live in their own world they create
with lies; they are the only ones who have to believe them. My conclusion is that
the title “Personal Liberty Digest” expresses an unattainable dream; thus, is a
nightmare for them. They want to find happiness in a world that no one else really
wants them to achieve.
In several blog posts I have
mentioned the idea, that people like Senator Rand Paul, what to live like
hermits in downtown New York, which can be nothing than a fantasy. If there is
an education failure, it is that we as a society fail to realize this. However,
consider libertarians, Rand Paul for example, and ask what more can we do to
teach him that he cannot live like an individual among 7 billion people. Perhaps,
we can’t change his genome but we can modify it with learning.
