Conservative women have their place it is just that some of them do not know where
that place is. This causes social conflict, with not only conservative men but
also with other conservative women. I find it interesting to explore this
thought.

It appears to me that
conservative ideology centers around what some refer as “moral order” meaning everything
has to follow biological order. The use of the world ‘moral’ adds
confusion. Moral means something is right or wrong, good or evil, without an
appreciation in what context they are making that judgment. As a stark example,
I enjoy watching nature programs like Animal Planet. A common theme deals with what
and how animals eat. Can you see a snake eating a rabbit without wondering what
the rabbit considers morally right verses what the snake judges to be right.
For a biologist like me; it is biologically correct or “in order” that a snake
eats a rabbit. The idea of applying human standards of “morality” to this
situation to does not make sense. What it does do is point out that moral order
is a product of reasoned judgment.
A modern woman’s place in society is becoming more and more in
conflict with her biology; it no longer reasonable. They are becoming free of
biological behavioral constraints. As is obvious from considerations of
evolutionary psychology there is a behavioral difference between males and
females, which is why feminist who demand equality in all things are wrong;
there are definable gender differences in our behavior and the way we think
about our behavior as there is in most species of animals. Geneticists refer to
differences found across many species as being well conserved or innate. This
does not imply, for example, that males are always stronger, just that there is
a “usually” a difference between genders in respect to social order. Nevertheless,
in the human species, the male is stronger. In the conservative mindset, this
carries over to “moral order” in many things but is especially obvious in family
structure. The husband is the hunter and the wife is the gatherer, the wife is
the one who takes care of the children while the husband is the one who
maintains order. If a wife or child misbehaves, it is not only biologically
wrong not to punish that wife and child but also “morally wrong”. The head of
the household has to maintain moral order. The
conservative male expects the conservative wife to accept this. However, more
and more, conservative wives are not accepting “this”—as their “lot in life”; they
are demanding their “freedom”. I am directing this blog post at the
conservative women who do not accept their lot in life as conservative wives by
asking the question, “Why are you still voting conservative?” I know several successful
families and business run by single or abandoned women who are strong
conservatives. Why are you voting against your own success?
When these things do happen, what is it that makes them
acceptable to a conservative male? The answer to that it is part of the
slave-slave owner mentality. Two slave owners brag about the abilities of their
slaves. It is only acceptable to have a slave that works hard or is smart because
he “owns” that slave; therefore, the slave’s ability is his ability. A wife
that successfully manages a household with children is acceptable as long as
there is the husband “in charge”. A single mother is an abomination—a
fatherless household is morally wrong. A poor family accepting food stamps to
live is bad enough but a single mother accepting food stamps is abominable—she
must have a husband because it is the “moral order”.
Ask yourself the questions of abortion and birth control; who
in the family decides to use birth control? Why is the only marriage that is
morally right between one man and one woman? Is it OK for a woman to work outside
the home? Is it OK for a woman to earn more than her husband? Is it OK a woman
earns less, for doing the same job, as a man? What is a conservative attitude
toward a macho woman or an effeminate man? Why is homosexuality so wrong? These
things and many more all have two thing in common; one, they violate the strongly
held conservative “moral order” and two; they are Republican political party
positions.
that's why you're such a intelligent nice guy!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteConsider this; it is possible that your theory about Conservative women is incomplete or even inaccurate. At best, you propose a theory but you have no measurable evidence to support this theory founded largely on your well published prejudice against conservatives. Don't misunderstand my comment. I'm not saying you are wrong, but this theory comes across a bit concocted to cast most conservative men as wife beaters. I would recommend that you add some additional clarification to better define your position on this sensitive subject and perhaps add some references to support this position.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Lakoff wrote about this in his book, The Political Mind in the evolutionary psychology sense. I certainly do not cast conservative men as wife beaters; that is your projection. “Moral order” suggests that men “feel” they should be in charge of families; how they express that vary from use of force to denying they have that feeling. The point of the post was that liberated conservative women have a different idea that may conflict with their politics. For them, like “compassionate conservative”, “liberated women” is an oxymoron. As for reference, I would ask you to answer the questions I pose in the last paragraph of the post then check the entire Republican Party platform
