#Morning Joe
was interesting in as much as it had Joe nodding his head in agreement with their
guest #Ben Sasse, Senate candidate from Nebraska. This guy has the eye catching idea to move the U.S.
Capitol to Nebraska his home state. Of course, for him, the term ‘government’
is pejorative. The best thing to do is to get rid of it—take it to the dump,
which in this case if is #Nebraska—but like all conservatives on this subject
he doesn’t believe what he is saying. What he is really saying is that
government is great as long as it applies to everyone else but him. As I often say
in blogs, the first thing a conservative says if there is something wrong in
his or her life is that “there ought to be law” against what ever it is that upsets
them at the moment.

This morning
Sasse filled my living room with disparaging and grossly misguided remarks
about Obamacare but what he said, as the actor in an advertisement for a popular
pain medication says, what he said “. .
. makes a lot of sense if you don’t stop and think about it”. For example,
he tells us we should leave health care in the United States to private enterprise.
Maybe if the Nation’s Capital moved to Nebraska, which is close to his home, he
would realize private enterprise lobbyists that wrote the only thing that is
wrong with Obamacare, which is forcing young health individuals to pay on top
of what taxes should pay. The only reason the Affordable Care Act includes
private insurance company profits, which is what makes it unaffordable for some,
is that they wrote it to make money for insurance companies no matter what but
almost by accident, it benefits many, many people, as it is, it is a “new deal”
for America.
Sasse’s entire thesis
on Obamacare was as naive as it was simple, everyone should pay for their own
health care, which is a way of saying he
missed the entire point of life in America. We tried “free enterprise” in
healthcare and proved beyond any reasonable doubt that it failed miserably. We
not only tried it in America but also it was tried or is being tried in virtually
every country in the world. The result of all those trials is that developed
countries have adopted some form of socialized medicine, which is what we are
fighting to do her now. Like all conservatives, they forget about those who cannot
pay for their own health care—the Ayn Rand utopia where everyone is happy and
healthy and has a money making job and an IQ of over 120. It is so obvious and simple
I can only shake my head and wonder how conservatives cannot understand that if
you force people to work (destroy unions) for minimum wage you cannot blame
them for not having enough money to pay their way in society including
pensions, education and the subject at
hand, pay for their own health care insurance.
Conservatives
just cannot be that stupid nor are they crazy; they are something else. When
Ann Coulter, for examples, says that homeless people should get up from the
grates they are sleeping on in the streets of Washington D. C. and “work hard
to go to Harvard like she did”, she really does not believe that. They know
what they are saying. Sasse knows he is saying that if you cannot afford health
care, you may or may not go bankrupt, die, or both; so what, he does not care one way or another. Conservatives
complain that Democrats accuse them of being cold, cruel, and heartless and
they fight back using such nonsense terms as “compassionate conservatives” to
cover up their obvious greed that results in so much cruelty.
