We are finding out that what some see in Christie that made him
a good candidate for president turns out to be the very thing we hate in
politics. He was decisive and seemed to be able to accomplish things without
the usual indecision that goes with difficult political decisions. Political decisions
are difficult because half the people what it one-way and the other half want
it another way. In New Jersey, it seemed like the Governor had little opposition
thus could make decisive decisions: therefore, was a great leader. It turns out
that behind the scene Christie operated like a dictator who people feared and
had a “well oiled” political machine that operated throughout state agencies
and with the all-powerful “Port Authority” administration. He was able to gain great
leverage and did use Sandy Hurricane Relief money to his political advantage. He
was doing exactly what we do not want our politicians to do to achieve a result
that we like to see; that is an irresolvable conflict for the voters. We should
keep that in mind as the circle of truth is widening with the Mayor of Hoboken
stepping up first, but there will be more, many more. I hope the people of New
Jersey come down on the side of honesty in politics even if it gives the appearance
of indecision.
