QUESTIONS FOR NORTH CAROLINA POLITICIANS

All of this nefarious political activity in Republican controlled North Carolina begs the question, “Where are the ‘rednecks’ heading with all of this? What is the endpoint? For centuries, we have been on a humanization tract: democracy, equal rights for all races, equal rights for women, equal opportunity for all, and such sweeping and unsettled things such as wealth distribution through taxes and salaries. Reasonable people have a goal; some kind of objective. This is what seems to be lacking in the minds of most of the Tea Party.

We have a small group appearing over the past several years, a splinter group of the Republican Party called the Tea Party that seems to have a dichotomous nature; they seem to eschew all social “progress”. Within this small group, a sub group of those who want all the power has formed and another subgroup that seems to want no one to have any power. For lack of a better description, these are the plutocrats and the individualists. The plutocrats need a low, low class, the bigger and the lower the better—you can not be a leader without followers. The individualists seem to want to live as hermits in cities with millions of others. It is all very confusing.

What does a person like Ran Paul mean when he says a restaurant owner should have the right to serve whomever he wants to serve? Does that extend to teachers? A person owning a pharmacy can decide whom to sell what drugs, such as birth control. Does that extend to a grocery store? If a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, a politician can decide the fate of the conceptus. Can politicians decide the quality of life of anyone they chose to dominate? Can Eric Cantor or Paul Ryan decide on who in society counts and who doesn’t? None of it makes sense: seven billion people are a lot of followers or a lot of people to ignore, dominate, and control.

Where are people like the racist North Carolina legislators takings us when they redistrict, suppress votes, convict innocent people, create poor verses rich school districts thus segregate schools, etc. If the nightmare happens and they gain the power needed to de-segregate, what will our society look like? Will it be a small group of powerful white protestant men living as hermits in an enclave of plenty in a sea or horde of servants?  My first guess is the they have no idea because all indications are they have an empty mind.
