ACCOLADES FOR OBAMA

Democrats are not upset with Obama as the Republicans claim. Those who follow this blog site know I am a real supporter of President Obama. In fact, I feel he is well on the way to becoming our best president ever.  The Republicans have claimed he is not getting anything done. They claim he is and introvert cowering in the shadows. So why do I feel so different about the job he is doing.

First, the people will only elect a politician if he productive; it is a thing called name recognition.  A politician must have an oversized ego to put his or her name out front at every opportunity; even listing trivial accomplishments.  The way a president does that is to claim credit for legislative accomplishment—fulfilling campaign promises, etc.

The second part of the story is that the Republicans have been working mercilessly to destroy him as President.  It goes well beyond criticisms of everything he does and extends to blocking his agenda. They will not even approve routine nominations and appointment the president makes. They refuse to fund necessary agencies they do not like such as the IRS and EPA. They investigate everything and make myriad false accusations. They ever stoop so low as to refuse invitations to dinner at the White House. Most of all, if Obama puts his name on a piece of legislation, even their own legislation, they refuse to pass it. Their message is clear; his name is somehow dirt. Voters can lament the activities of there legislative representatives as despicable but that does not help get legislation passed.

Under these circumstances, there is only one way to move forward. Obama is a great enough man to step back and allow others to take credit for legislation he proposed and/or favors. He is confident enough and intelligent enough to know that the American people will recognize and judge what he is doing in light of progress made. In addition, I hope the American people realize how ignorant and destructive the “new” Republican Party philosophy has been to democracy.  Judging from the news programs, I think the democrats know what is happening and hope swing voters realize it as well. Above all else, I am sure future generations will know not only what a great president Obama was but also what a great human being he was.
