EDWARD SNOWDEN: CONSEQUENCE OF PRIVATIZATION

What is wrong with privatizing government work? We can answer that question with one name, Edward Snowden. A person with a low-level education working in a very sensitive position dealing with government secrets is an invitation to what happened. We trust the government to do what we cannot do for our selves. Booz Allen Hamilton, the company who hired Edward Snowden, and allowed him access to the most sensitive government data paid this fellow $200,000 a year. He had only worked for the company for three months. The education was deficient and the salary excessive. He should have been flipping hamburgers at $7.25 per hour.

Snowden in the context of saying he did not want to do harm to the government, said he could have shut down the entire government surveillance program. Think about that in terms of the power given to an undereducated over paid short-term employee. We can blame Booz Allen Hamilton, now a very rich company, for the problem but in doing that we miss the real problem. We have a very active political party following a “hate the government” philosophy. The do everything you can to make the government smaller. It should be obvious that this policy is directly connected to myriad problems. Edward Snowden is an example of trivial proportions. A huge problem is that privatization is very expensive for the taxpayers . . . politician look at it as free money. Look at private armies. Consider the post office department that Darrel Issa is trying to destroy by privatizing it. Consider the social security system they want to turn over to Wall Street.  Look at the disaster in Benghazi; in fact look at the entire Iraqi war. Disaster after disaster yet they continue doing it.

The conservative party is destroying our government for a profit. They yell our government is too big and say we should run it like a “for profit” business. This country has 300,000 million people, is the major market in the world, has the greatest armed force ever assembled. We have a system that inures we can take care of our aging population. We will have affordable health care if they do not ruin it. We are the greatest country in the world but the conservatives among us have intentionally put us on the road to destruction; a downward spiral headed for a crash. They already did great harm: we all know the rich bought Congress; how did they vote on gun control, how did they vote on oil company subsidies, and how did they vote on consumer protection.

They want to destroy our government and replace it with a plutocracy—privatize government by putting it in the hands of the rich; the money floods up but never trickles down. Some of us would say "mission accomplished" but I for one will not give up the fight. The only argument they have is that they do not want to see “freeloaders” living off their tax dollars. This is a disconnect association; one has nothing to do with the other but that is their argument. As a liberal neither do I condone welfare cheating. However, I am not willing to allow many people to starve to prevent a few from cheating. However, when it comes to cheating, I can recognize that the real “welfare queens” are corporations, including agricultural corporation, such as Booz Allen Hamilton. I do not have to fear that national security secretes will be revealed by some fat black lady driving a pink Cadillac and buying expensive steaks with food stamps that the closet raciest Ronald Reagan warned us about. No one has ever found such a person but we sure as hell found Edward Snowden.
