THE POINT OF THE BENGHAZI HEARING: NOT WHAT YOU THINK

I post the following because I am afraid the American people will miss the major point of the Benghazi hearings. The Benghazi hearings, the fact that no Republican showed up for the Obama appointed EPA administrator confirmation hearing, and the reason we have the sequester is the same; Republicans want the government to fail,  not just President Obama, but the entire United States Government. They believe that the American People will look favorably on their efforts. That may sound like I am putting words in their mouths but the evidence is overwhelmingly clear. They are acting as children, throwing a temper tantrum, and expect the American people, like a bad parent, to give them what they want; if the cannot have everything they want nothing. Of course, for them everything is the Presidency, both houses of congress, and the Supreme Court. The polls would indicate that the American people not that stupid. To extend the temper tantrum analogy, everyone understands that a temper tantrum is wrong but still they reward the bad behavior. The election of Mark Sanford in South Carolina would indicate exactly that: rewarding bad behavior. The opinion polls in New Jersey with high favorability ratings of Gov. Chris Christi suggest the same thing. The American voters just do not get it; if they elect Republicans, and Christie is an innate Republican, they will have a plutocracy; a two class society.

If the only columnist people read is John Podhoretz or the only TV station they listen to is FOX, they have no idea of what the truth might be. The vary thing that drives them to ingest that kind of information in the first place is reinforced by what they read. They become involved in a vicious but toughened circle of misguided logic. They begin to believe that all government is bad, that all liberals are lazy and want to live on government handouts, that all liberals want to take away their constitutional rights (guns) and individuality, that we are not an immigrant nation, and that women are chattel, and that quality of life only matters for them—Ayn Rand. Family values start with men being the head of all households and controlling the reproductive lives of women. The list is long but the objective is clear: in their mind, the natural order of thing is that there is a ruling class—a male ruling class—and there is a working class—period! As George W. Bush put it, there are the “haves and the have nots”. What they do and how they do it does not have to make sense: they will lie (FOX, Podhoretz), cheat (voter suppression in Republican controlled states) and steal (Romney and vulture capitalism). The ruling class must be the ones to make all the decisions, which of course means everything will be in their favor. Workers are ignorant, Latino immigrants are ignorant, which must be why they are not leaders. Slaves were ignorant, which must be why they were slaves. This gives the full perspective of what voter suppression is about. Why should either male, but especially female workers, have a vote when they don’t know anything; they should shut up and do as they are told.
