BENGHAZI BLAME RESTS WITH PENTAGON

Morning Joe on MSNBC was interesting this morning. First, it sounded so much like FOX trash that I had to check the channel; the program was Morning Joe, or should I label the show as Morning Dzho. By touting the success of the raid on the United States Embassy in Benghazi, he sounded as if he was crediting the terrorist with a major victory. Second, the topic was Benghazi, which can go nowhere; therefore, they were “whipping a dead horse”, an act of cruelty toward the truth. The Republicans really believe they have something bad to pin on Hilary Clinton—as some say Republican operative hope to turn it into; enough to knock her out of the presidential race in 2016.

I noted that Dzho posed the question, “What mistakes did Hilary make? This is the same armature reporter format, “When did you stop beating your wife?” She doesn’t need to be defended because she did not make any mistakes—none. The Congress, not her, made a big mistake by not appropriating the money needed to pay for the overly expensive privatized security—the American paid mercenary army. The Pentagon made a mistake by not using the United States Marines, as they should have. The Africa Command revealed the second mistake in a more subtle way. The Pentagon replaced Army General Carter Ham by General David Rodriguez according to Associated Press reports made on Apr 5th.Ask why, if you dare. In addition, the same day, an Army major general with the same unit was relieved of his post in connection with alcohol and sexual misconduct charges, defense officials said.

The Pentagon made it known that the African Command has now publicly acknowledged—of course below the radar—that they have stepped up security response in the area, which means it was lacking during the Sept.11, 20012 attack on the embassy; this is direct substantiation of Secretary Clinton's position. If you really want to dig into what the African Command was doing rather then tending to military matters, such as protecting our embassies, was what the military calls mission creep, which was the third mistake. They were deeply involved in humanitarian projects that the State Department should have been doing. In the past, I have blogged about this shift in responsibility with the shift in funding from State to the Pentagon: a shift from where the Republicans have little influence (State Department) to the Pentagon, where Admirals and Generals have the ear of the Republican congressional representative. If the United States is to be involved in “nation building”, it should be the State Department responsibility. Under Republican influence, the State Department is poverty-stricken but the Pentagon has a bloated budget, which is true from the time of the failed presidency of Ronald Reagan especially because of the policies of neo-con Donald Rumsfeld and the war profiteer Dick Cheney. The Republicans on Darrell Issa’s committee should do the awkward thing and point to their own Party for corrupting the Pentagon when they assign blame for Benghazi.
