WE ARE DISCONNECTED FROM CONGRESS

Disconnect between the people and the House of Representatives. Had I a staff I would search the records looking for public opinion polls on issues Congress has voted on. The average of nation wide polls, although not scientific, would give some indication of the opinion of people across the country. I would then ask the staff to chart the results and calculate a correlation between House of Representative outcome and their votes. Of course, the actual outcome in terms of pass and fail is the most important from the political point of view; I would not consider the outcome, just the number of votes cast.  Everyone recognized that the House rules concerning cloture has distorted our republican form of government. There would be a time sensitive aspect because obviously the votes would have been taken over a wide range of times. My hypothesis is that there will be less and less correlation. The legislation is not what the people want. Nevertheless, because we are  generally law abiding citizens, bad laws or not, they will stand.
