PROOF THAT FOX NEWS CORRUPTS PEOPLE

A Public Policy Poll indicated that 49% of Americans believe that ACORN stole the 2012 election for President Obama. This revelation should a huge red flag warning us there is something terrible wrong in America. Everyone should know that ACORN, an organization devoted to registering voters, closed its doors in 2010. A Republican hate campaign destroyed the organization using false information and dishonest techniques. The point of this Firetree blog is that not everyone knew this. In fact, as the poll suggest, almost half the people believed ACORN was active and somehow was doing something dishonest.  The red flag is not that they believe this but begs answer to the question of where are they getting the blatantly false information. Why don’t they know the truth?

The answer is they live in a bubble of false information. They live in this bubble because they want to. Millions of people feel comfortable hearing Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Riley tell them things they have been primed to believe, even if a moment of rational thought would reveal what they hear is false but only if they knew ACORN was no more. How could they know this if the same people are their only source of information? It makes no difference that the airwaves and newspapers are filled with accurate information.  We all know people who limit their listening to FOX NEWS and FOX NATION or spend all their computer time visiting equally focused web sites; in contrast to left wing sites, the internet is full of radical right wing sites. Rupert Murdock and Rodger Ales take advantage of our right to free speech and use FOX NEWS to corrupt the minds of people. I would remind those people that these false pundits could only corrupt the corruptible. The sad truth is these people cast their ballots based on this kind of information.
