GROUND GAME PARADOX

This morning on Chris Hayes’ program Up on MSNBC the subject of the impact of the huge amounts of money had on the last election related to the Citizens United ruling by SCOTUS was discussed. Speculation advanced by one of the participants was that the right wing would have to use the big money on their ground game if they are going to win the next election. This is the paradox; the Democratic ground game strategy was to “get out” their vote ; Therefore, the counter suggestion would be for the Republicans to get out their vote—a ground game “get out the vote” duel. I agree that is exactly what Republicans should do because they will lose.

America is not a conservative nation, which is counter to the usual rhetoric they advance.  They cannot get out their vote because they do not have a "majority" when everyone votes and they know it. The evidence I have that they do not believe their own statements is simple: their massive voter suppression.  If they have a winning ground game, it must be suppression of voter turnout. Therefore, the question is what kind of ground game could they put together? Voter suppression is so counter to the principles of democracy that it has the opposite effect; it stimulates voter turnout—witness what happened in this election.
