If I could prove to you that a politician was corrupt, would
you vote for that person? People always say politician cannot be trusted, or crooks, or corrupt but these same people are not willing to do anything
about it but I am here to tell you that you can do something about it.
The House of Representative, the people who are supposed to
represent you, voted to keep paying subsidies to oil companies that are making
huge profit. Those who voted to keep the subsidies $20 billion in subsidies received
$8.7 million in campaign donations. You complain that government is spending taxpayer
money foolishly; subsidies are just the tip of the iceberg. There are an addition
$20 billion in tax breaks for oil companies in the pipeline, opening up National
Forests to drilling, and on and on. These
things are not secret; they are facts commonly reported in the news media. Another fact is that the country is in a debt
crisis.
We cannot afford the luxury of increasing the bottom line of
companies that are already profitable but even if we could, it is not morally correct. If you claim to be a church goer, then you should have some understanding of ethics. A NBC/Wall Street Journal poll reported 74% of American wants congress to get
rid of the subsidies. Another fact is that Obama promised to clean up
government. How can he keep that promise
with a congress that does not represent the people: a corrupt congress with a 12% approval rating? There
is only one way to correct the situation and that is for the voters to go to
the internet, find out who your congressional
representative is and how he/she
voted on the oil subsidies bill.
Actual it was a vote to prevent the House from debating the bill.
There you have it:
1. It
was open and blatant corruption.
2. You
representative cannot lie about how
he/she voted.
3. You
can identify who voted against your
interest.
4. You
can vote not to return him/her to
congress in spite of all the TV commercial.
Put your vote where
you mouth is!
