BUYERS REMORSE:
THE LESSONS OF WISCONSIN
Democrats had better
learn the lessons of Wisconsin before it is too late. Republicans have and are
applying what they have learned every day to this presidential campaign.
First, Scott
Walker, with national support and following a Karl Rove campaign approach, he
lied to the Wisconsin voters. He did not reveal his faulted Ayn Rand ideology as
to how he would govern if elected; everything for the rich and nothing for the
workers. They simple do not matter. He was elected with money from outside the
state. He governed according to this ideology
and not according to his campaign lies. The people who voted for him were
outraged. Buyer’s remorse set in.
They collected
million of signatures to force a recall election; that is expensive and is a
lot of hard work. This recall election was a clarion call to battle for Walker’s
supporters. They started to donate million of dollars anonymously; his allies
were not the workers but the rich who hide behind the infamous and faulted Citizens
United decision. They saturated the media with political ads with lies. Using
the Rove principle that if you tell the same lies often enough people will believe
them, they told the same lies so often that enough people believed them to
prevent the Scott Walker recall. Interviews with people as the left voting
booths clearly showed the lies had work. They did not vote their base values,
they voted according to the “newly” instilled values”. People who depend on the
unions for a fair wage and on public schools to educate their children voted
against their own interest. What mattered was that Democrats were treating
Scott Walker unfairly.
The buyer’s remorse
was there but it did not matter anymore; there was no recourse AND THE PEOLE OF
WISCONSIN ARE STUCK WITH HIM.
Spool ahead to
the presidential campaign; Rove, again, is mastering a campaign of high dollars
to perpetuate lies. The money he collected as a direct result of Citizens
United. We know the Bush administration spend us into a debt crisis to create
an atmosphere where fair-minded voters would agree to cut Social Security and
Medicare, food stamps, etc. We know Republican deregulation policy destroyed
our economy. We know that unregulated mortgage companies ruined the American housing
market. We know the Republican Congress is trying to destroy the President. We
know they want to feed the “military industrial complex, with another war. They
want to close public schools and hand them over to churches and business. They
want to create an Ayn Rand world where only the rich matter. You want to know what
that would be like? Live in a third world country for 18 years as I have. If
you buy the Republican lies and elect Romney, it will be equivalent to a George
W. Bush recall election. Once Paul Ryan and his stand-in Romney are in the White
House THE PEOLE OF THE UNITED STATES ARE STUCK WITH THEM—for ever.
