Todd Akin caused a furor with his legitimate rape remarks.
One of the Joe Scarborough sycophants on Morning Joe this morning (Aug 22) that
he, Mike Barnicle, thinks Romney/Ryan
should disown Akin; kick him out of the
Republican Party during his acceptance speech at the their national
convention. Sorry Mike, you milled the real problem with Akin. Nevertheless, I think it would be a good idea to do that for the following
reason; he would also kick out Mike Huckabee and Gov. Brownback along with
many, many others faith based politicians, including the chairman of the
Republican Platform Committee, Bob McDonald. These guys and Todd Akin are
like-minded when it comes to male dominance over women; they do not say it but
what they mean is that it’s in the Bible. Their anti abortion position is in
the Bible; therefore the vaginal probe that McDonald wanted in the law before
the “government (read God) allowed” an abortion is in the Bible. They want the
government to run on biblical law; witness George W. Bush and his White House
office of faith-based initiatives that funneled tax dollars in to churches. Thus,
he would kick out the entire evangelical Christian vote out as well. Good move
Mike. As a altruistic liberal I would love to see Romney do as you say. Oh, by
the way, Paul Ryan wrote legislation at the federal level to do what Akin said;
pregnancy cannot happen from a rape therefore no abortion allowed; it could not
have been a rape. Romney would have to do it before Ryan is nominated for VP.
