REPUBLICAN GREED AND YOUR POST OFFICE

Few people seem to understand why the post office is in its death throes. Legislation required the Untied States Post Office Services (USPOS) to bank huge excesses in the pension funds, thus destroying cash flow. Republican legislators designed the law to destroy the USPOS. They did it for something called greed or in tea party lingo, privatization.  Rep. Darrell Issa, the chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, called the resent Senate’s attempt to save the USPOS “a $33 billion dollar taxpayer funded bailout.” Why?

I like to think back to the idea of something called the TVA or the Tennessee Valley Authority, a plank in Franklyn Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal. Rural farms or isolated people in the sense of the availability of electricity could not get private companies to supply electricity. They could not sustain their high profits and supply the labor, wire, and poles to supply these folks with power. They did not want to make the investment because of the return were too small. The solution; the government bought some small power companies, supplied what was need over the expanse of areas in several states to make affordable power available to these needy people and then turned the enterprise over to private companies. All that remained for the companies to supply was the power and maintenance of the wires. Of course, it was a lot more complex than this but this description is enough to make my point. The government did what it is suppose to do; it helped industry and it helped people, which is so Democratic. The only thing wrong was that it was part of the hated New Deal!

The United States government under the title of the USPOS built the structures and supplied the trucks that deliveries mail to rural area for example, at affordable prices. Delivering the mail like protecting our shores was at the very foundation of our country. Companies can send their advertisements to everyone at an affordable price. Now Darrell Issa and the lobby want to destroy that. The companies paying the lobbyists, not the government, want the business structure but also they want the infrastructure including the huge stockpile of money in the pension fund. This is not good capitalism, it is the savage capitalistic business model used by BAIN CAPITAL. They will put the $33 billion into the postal service and then bankrupt the service.  If you still do not understand what I am saying; Issa and cohorts have turned the government into venture capitalists using your tax dollars.
