Some, including me, may have been lulled into thinking John Roberts did something good; therefore, he is a good person, he can be trusted, a person we can rely on, etc. This reminded me about something I read many years ago or it may even have been something my Mother told me. “No amount of benevolence can forgive the way they got the money.” If a bank robber steals one billion then give one million to charity, people praise and applaud. He helped poor little children—or what ever! The reason their parents did not have money is because they had their money in the bank robber robbed.
