WHAT IS A SUCCESSFUL REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT

FOUNDING FATHERS, POLITICS, AND GOVERNMENT, REPUBLICAN PARTY, US GOVERNMENT published this on the internet under the title, Republican Party ideals. Interestingly enough, the author followed the post with a question mark. I searched through the nine “I Believes…” trying to find one I could honestly say I heard proclaimed by any one candidate for president at the Republican Party Debate. They twisted every one of them to mean something different from what most working people believe they mean. 1. I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored. 2. I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability. 3. I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity. 4. I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn. 5. I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least. 6. I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people. 7. I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times. 8. I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world. 9. I BELIEVE the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government. Starting with one through five, not one of the candidates talked about a women’s right to choose, a gay or LGBT person to live without discrimination, a women’s right to use contraception, to attend a public school, or a poor person in the South to vote without some form of discrimination. I will not mention the level of discrimination a Latino immigrant undergoes in their daily lives. Item number four is an exception in as much as they are telling people they want to be the ones who will determine if you keep what you earn. However, there is discrimination in this as well. For example, in North Carolina, every dollar you earn as wages is taxed as a sales tax; however, if you earn money as dividends on investments, your tax rate is very low. The truth is that is what Reagan’s trickle down economics is all about. Item six and seven is the tired old trope, “get rid of government”. What that means is they want to get rid of government regulations everyone else should have to follow but not them. You can go to a ridiculous level with this idea, and it will hold true. For example, in some conservative states they do not enforce speed limits and refuse federal funds for highway maintenance to avoid following federally mandated speed laws. Every one of the Candidates referred to item eight with Rand Paul being the only one objecting to what the others advocated. They want war and do not want to pay for it. Senator Paul pointed out, that what they wanted is not following conservative principles, which was the only time a candidate referred to anyone of the principles mentioned in this list. Item nine is the one that scares the hell out of me because the first eight principles are what they think a successful government is. People flock to the voting booths for Republicans because Obama is going to take away their guns. By the way, he never said this but they did, repeatedly. They said it until they believe their own lie. URL: firetreepub.blogspot.com Comments Invited and not moderated
