REPUBLICAN ASSUMPTION OF AUTHORITY

The current debate over torture should have taken place before “we” started torturing people. Guantanamo should have been debated before “we” opened that black sight. We should not have invaded Iraqi before “we” debated the issue. “We” the people did not have any of those debates. Why?

There should be a lesson in all of this. Once you elect a Republican to office, they seem to feel that is all the authority they need to do anything they like—they are in charge . . .  period. Over my long life, and it has been lone, I have seen this happen time and again. It seems innate.
