POLITICAL VOTE CYCLE ENIGMA

A not so hidden cycle exists in politics. The election of Nov. 4 is proof of that. Surveys are showing the American people are starting to feel good about the economy. Logically, the people should reward those who are responsible for the up-turn in the economy. The jobs reports are good and getting better. We have gained back all the jobs lost by past poor economic administration. There are signs wages are increasing; slowly to be sure but, nevertheless, are increasing. Heath care costs are finally under control. International relations are finally on a new and solid footing based on respect not fear. We are fighting wars but in a new way, that is without boots on the ground, which tells the world we are not going to enter another Vietnam quagmire; if the people want democracy they will have to earn it by fighting for it. Obama, a Democrat following liberal policies, has done a great job and will continue to do a good job for the next two years. Rather than reward him, the people punished him by doing the worst thing they could do, which was to vote in a greed driven Republican majority in Congress. American greed, really worldwide innate insatiable human greed, caused the economic downturn; this is not a hidden secret. Everyone knows and acknowledges this but seem ashamed to admit it, especially Republican voters.

For years, surveys have shown that things like increased home ownership, car ownership, and other signs of success correlate with the number of people who vote Republican. In other words, Obama’s liberal success has created more voters who vote with Republican. This is the enigma; voters put Republicans in office who do not want to pay taxes; the money they earn while working their new jobs is theirs; jobs they would not have had if it were not for Obama. Suddenly, these people believe all the Republican myths that support their desire not to pay taxes. For example, cutting taxes on the rich, creates jobs; it is a blatant lie and everyone knows that but they believe it now that they are in a position to pay taxes.

It goes deep into our social structure. For example, some of them who vote Republican may look forward to living on Social Security when they retire  but voted for those who want to destroy that program. They voted Republicans into office, who want to destroy regulator such as the SEC and such other things like the  “Consumer” Protection Agency that insures protection for them and their pensions; that is people who are now “consumers” because the have a job … with a little money in their pocket. The Bush tax cuts are what caused the economic disaster of his presidency; again, this is something everyone knows. They know all of these things but still vote the way they do. Thus, this political cycling makes no sense unless, as mentioned, you fall back on innate driven greed; they cannot help themselves; their greed is in their genes. Once we have another disastrous downturn, and people are suffering economically, the very same people who put the evil doers in office will then switch back to voting for Democrats, because as everyone knows, Democrats are the ones who care for people while Republican are the ones who care for money.
