CITIGROUP CORRUPTS DEMOCRACY

All evidence point to the fact that CITIGROUP corrupted our Democracy right before our eyes and no one seems to care. The issue in question is not that banks are chipping way at government regulations, which is wrong and important, but how they did it that frightens me. Our system of government has a necessary step that is also its weakest link. Elected representatives need information on various topics to write and vote on associated legislation. ‘Lobbing’ is the term that refers to this information sharing. It is common knowledge that big business corrupts the system by paying bribes disguised as campagn donation, free travel to golf courses and expensive resorts for meeting, and a long, long list of other techniques designed to gain favorable advantage for their industry of special interest group. Obviously, this leaves the direct influence of the individual citizen out in the cold. However, the citizen has the power of his or her vote. They cast that voted by judging the way a representative votes on various pieces of legislation. Unfortunately, most people do not know or understand legislation and vote blind; that is by party affiliation.

What has happened is that it appeared that CITIGROUP lobbyists skipped the elected representative and submitted a critical subsection of the ‘Cromnibus' Spending Bill to the United States Congress for a vote. Read that again; the lobbyist skipped the elected representative and submitted legislation for a vote. Why do I say this? As a concerned citizen, I am interested to know what congress representative wrote and submitted those devastating paragraphs of legislation. The media has answered the question about who wrote it; CITIGROUP wrote it word for word! Even if CITIGROUP did not admitted responsibility, the contents of the law would make it clear that it was a “big bank”. The most important question; “Who do I vote against for submitting such terribly bad legislation?” will never be answered. I think it is because CITIGROUP lobbyists themselves inserted it, perhaps using one of their staffers on capital hill; therefore, there never will be anyone for me to vote out of office; so much for our democracy. It is easy to make your point if you do not believe this; give me with the name of the elected representative submitted it.
