REPUBLICANS HATE OBAMA'S SUCCESS

When he signed into law the minimum wage for federal employees, Obama made me realize something that should have been obvious before; essentially, he is running the entire government alone, which is OK with me because he is a great man and a positive progressive thinker. He wants the congress to be involved in a big way but they refuse, or if they are involved in government, it is to do childish and foolish things such as to pass federal anti abortion law after anti abortion law while at the same time demanding we give the States the rights to run their own affairs.

I know there is a culture of “blind” hate for Obama that corporations aided Republicans to build. I use the world ‘blind’ because it cannot be defined; therefore, it is ground less. When news commentators ask people why they hate the President they say thing like, “I don’t dislike him personally, but I hate what he does.” Their message is that they want to be able to disavow they are racists while saying they have no idea why they hate him. If ask what he has done that they hate so much, the haters usually cannot give an answer at all or if they do answer, they say something about hating “Obamacare”, meaning the Affordable Care Act. When pressed they do not have any idea of what that legislation is all about or say it will raise “their” taxes, which of course is not true. I have yet to hear one Republican say they don’t want affordable health care.

This morning on Washington Journal, a caller stated he was a minimum wage worker but felt strongly that raising the minimum wage would increase his living expenses; therefore, he was against it. It was interesting that he went on to say he thought increasing minimum wages was some kind of government (Obama) scheme for increasing the amount of taxes “they” collected. I looked at this as some kind of twist in logic only a “hate Obama” and “hate the government” an innate Republican could devise. At an income level of $10.10 an hour, he clearly fits into Romney’s 47% that is those would not pay taxes. For a long time, when I heard such asinine things, I attributed them to education failures; now I believe it is innate, it is in their genes; they cannot help themselves in what they believe. Curiously, a few callers before this one, states she was a Kansas State graduate—yes, a college graduate—and was concern about why the government was not investigating why a building near the World Trade center fell on 9/11. Maybe it is not a coincident that the book title concerned with why people vote against their own interest was “What’s is the Matter with Kansas”. What is it that “texters” say; OMG.

In the past, I joke around that Republicans cannot see as far as the end of their noses because every time they lie their nose grows. That may not be true; in their minds, these people are not lying; they really believe what they believe, as twisted as it is. They hate Obama because he is a progressive and is successful as president, even under the worst circumstances corporate money could possibly create for him in Washington. They hate him because he is successful and the people love it. Can you imagine a Republican saying he is successful in answer to the question, “Why do you hate Obama?

We can celebrate his successes because what he is doing, he is doing as an individual; he has executive power. Congressional democrats that have not been bought off by corporations want to help people but they have their hands tied until we elect more of them in our districts, which we must do in spite of Citizens United if we are to survive as a democracy and not a plutocracy. We may lose after all it is 330,000,000 people against the Koch brothers and the two brothers seem to be winning.
