I heard Florida Governor #Rick Scott on #Chuck Todd’s #Daily RunDown this morning (MSNBC). Tragically, he
has a winning campaign strategy in his race for governor against ex Governor #Charlie Christ. If elected he will “cut taxes” and dramatically increase “government
aid to education”. It is a winning strategy because that is exactly what
everyone wants; as most of us say, “everyone
wants something for nothing”. It is like a child in a candy store. How can voters
be so naïve?

It is common knowledge that our State Legislatures are
cutting university budgets and forcing professors to write research grants to
support themselves. It is also common knowledge that tuition is increasing rapidly
for the same reason; students have to pay for more of their own education. Tuition
is so high that only the children of guys that can afford elevators for their Cadillacs
can afford it. Have you not noticed there is an income disparity and it is
growing? As you earn less and less, the more you will tended to vote for the guy
who says he is going to lower “your” taxes; when he says you deserve to keep
the money you earn you believe him. After all, you need every penny so you can
afford to send your child to college. I mentioned that tuition has increased
dramatically, but did I say that interest rates on student loans have increase
and that there are severe penalty clauses in loan contracts. Like writing home mortgages
contracts, student loan agreements have been deregulated because you agree that
no one should stick their nose in your “private” business, especially the government.
I watched as a dog chased it’s own tail and wondered if it
realized what it was doing.
