If you think the following is ridiculous and easily
dismissed, tell me where it is wrong.
Our Nation is in deep debt for one reason and one reason
only; you have no desire to pay for the
life style you want and enjoy. You whole-heartedly support politicians who
sign Grover Norquist’s pledge. You voted for every politician who said he or
she would cut taxes and look at where it has taken you. You voted for Reagan when
he said he would cut taxes even after he told you that it was best to have all
the money at the top. You voted for Bush who cut taxes while telling you the 1%
were the job creators and followed him as he intentionally spent this country
into ruin. You support Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, who hate everything that has to
do with the government—government is bad; it takes money for which you worked
hard to get. You have successfully distorted the constitutional to read that you
have a right to own a gun and then defended that right but do not know whom to
shoot.
Consider this, what
if the United States, like Detroit, filed for bankruptcy because no one wants
to pay taxes. Isn’t that just putting a name on where we are?
For over 250 years, even before we were a nation, we have paid
taxes, built, and defended a huge publically owned infrastructure, which is now
of incalculable value. A bankruptcy judge steps in, a single man such as a Scalia,
Thomas, or Alito, and declares all contracts with the American people null and
void, confiscates all government property we bought and paid for, and starts to
sell off our assets to the highest bidder and uses the proceeds to pay our
debts. All pensions fund reserves are paid to China and other bankers who hold
our debt. National parks are sold to timber, mining, and oil companies. All right
to water, natural gas, and oil are sold to multinational corporations. All
works of arts are sold to private billionaires for pennies on the dollar. All public
service unions are destroyed. All public assets are in the hands of private
enterprise. The government now has no money; therefore, we have no government. There
is no need to deregulate because there are no regulations. We have no social security
program nor do we have Obamacare. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is
defunded; if disaster strikes you are on your own; by the way, bankruptcy is a
disaster. The Department of Education is gone and the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) is ignored. All of this is extreme but isn’t that the direction we
are heading with our 13 trillion dollar dept?
Bankruptcy could
achieve in short order what the Republican Party has been trying to achieve for
years. All assets are in the hands of a few rich people at the top. We have
no effective government in Washington, which means we have the smallest
government possible, which means the power is in the same hands of those who
hold the assets. Labor is available, abundant, and cheap. There is no minimum
wage. There is less and less public education so you do not have to pay to
educate other peoples’ children; the only schools are private, the rich have
built and maintain for their own children. Best of all, there is no or are near
zero taxes on corporations and second best is that everyone has an “equal opportunity”
to advance because up is the only road left to travel, even if that road is
filled with potholes.
