In 1974, Congress
formed the Congressional budget office, which started business in 1975. To day,
that office is located on the 4th floor of the Ford House Office Building
in Washington D.C. where 202 professional economists and policy analysts
produce independent analysis of economic and budgetary issues. All employees
are hired independent of political affiliation. There are eight divisions, of
which one is devoted to “Health, Retirement, and Long Term Analysis Division.
In other words, it is a highly professional organization with many years of
experience.
This
organization sent a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner telling him that
if they repealed the Affordable Care Act, it would add $109 billion to our countries
deficit over the period of 2013-2022. Loud and clear, the message from 220 experienced
professional economist and a policy analysts, to repeat in capital letters, A repeal of the ACA will increase our national
debt by $109.
Obamacares is saving us money.
The right wing political machine financed by David and Charles
Koch are putting on a full dress stage show nation wide. Enter stage right;
Glenn Beck looking scholarly and poking the air with his finger: Obamacare is going to ruin the country
financially. Republicans jump to their feet and applaud wildly. Why?
Seriously, I ask who do
you believe, Glenn Beck or the Congressional Budget Office. Can’t Republicans just say that they do
not like the Affordable Healthcare Act because we have to increase taxes to pay
for it? Can’t they just admit that the legislation is based on a solid
insurance principle? Can’t they understand that emergency rooms in hospitals
are being financed by tax dollars, which is a way of providing healthcare to
poor people but includes young people who will now have to pay their own way? Can’t
they just admit that we tried “free enterprise” healthcare and it failed miserable?
Why is it that they feel they have to lie about it and make
liberals like me feel that Republicans are so stupid that they will believe
Beck, or Limbaugh, or Joe Scarborough, or O’Rielly or that collectively their spokespersons
have some kind of mental defect?
