The right-wing media has twisted the report of the Senate
Special Committee on Intelligence to put blame on the Secretary of State “for
the attack on its embassy” in Benghazi and not “for failure to provide adequate
defense” of that embassy. That is not what the report says but is the sense
projected by the reporters. The report says Ambassador Stevens underestimated
the danger and screwed up trying to do the right thing; the report is available
for reading in its entirety on the internet along with a list of the 15 members
of the committee. Ambassador Stevens did not want CIA activities associated
with that embassy revealed for fear of local retaliation; thus, he failed to understand
why religious radicals targeted the Benghazi facility for attacked, which in
turn caused him to underestimate the magnitude of the attack. Of course, hindsight
20/20 vision clearly demonstrated the Ambassador made bad judgment about the size
of the protective forces needed that cost him and three others their lives.

The Democrats on the committee are from a wing of the
liberal party that has an anti government bias. The numbers of members
representing purple states when added to the naive Ron Wyden of Oregon show an
inherent bias: Senators from West Virginia, Virginia, Colorado, New Mexico can hardly
be termed raving liberals. The membership collectively support the standard Republican
sentiment of hate for anything to do with the government and especially intelligence
gathering when to comes to Wyden, but also includes hate for President Obama
and hate for Hilary Clinton. In spite of this bias, the report its self is
actually quite revealing. What actually says is, as it says on the Forest Gump “T”
shirt; “Stuff happens.”
The only thing wrong
is the way media is mining the “factual” information and taking it out of
context; they have picked out, sensationalized, and stitched together the
negatives making the report seem to be something it is not. Their target for
slander is Hilary Clinton, a potential presidential candidate; therefore, is of
high media interest; her name taken in a negative context sells newspapers.
