OBAMACARE WEB SITE CREATED FOR CONVENIENCE

This morning, Steve Kornacki made a major point about the government rollout of the Affordable Health Care Act ((AVA); the government web site is no more than a new portal of entry to the ACA. If it had worked, it would have been a great convenience—to make it easy. Nevertheless, all of the regular ways of buying health insurance are possible; individuals and companies can go to the insurance companies and their brokers as they have done in the past. This is exactly what is happening and happening in great numbers.

From personal experience, I know the insurance companies are working hard to sign up as many clients as possible as fast as possible. The various companies have well established web sites: United, Humana, and BlueCross/Blue Shield for example. I tried for three days to contact a private insurance web site via internet and via phone. The web site would not allow entry unless I answered questions with unknowable answers such as what was the amount of my last payment—if I am not currently a client of that company how could I have an answer.  That avenue was blocks so I resorted to the phone, which was busy I could not talk to sales person. The message was, “Your phone call is important to us. Please stay on the line. An operator will be with you shortly.” Day one I waited on hour twenty minutes, until the phone battery died. Day two I waited 20 minutes. Day 3, I waited one-hour 30 minutes and a very friendly and efficient person answers the phone and signed my wife and me up in less than 10 minutes. All of this indicates to me that many people are doing the same thing I did. I am sure the number of people buying insurance will be impressive once the insurance companies release the information.

I found out that we would be saving a lot of money on premiums and drugs. It is like a big increase in our Social Security check. In addition, we will enjoy free health care monitoring. I am extremely happy with Obamacare. In my mind, the great mystery remains; why are the Republicans so against Obamacare when it is so obviously good for the people? Why are Republican State Governors working so hard to hurt the people in their states? They have caused a great deal of trouble for the ACA program by refusing to establish state insurance exchanges; thus, forcing people to overload the government web site. Why? It seems the only reason they object is so they could complain as if there is some form of evil and perverse pleasure in that.
