I sometimes like to play with crazy ideas to make a point;
this spoof on Wayne LaPierre and Grover Norquist is one of times.
We know crazy people perpetrate a majority of the mass
killings we have experienced.
We also seem to see an increase in their frequency. We also know that Wayne LaPierre in all of his wisdom advocates, “The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun”. We also know that state legislators around the nation have passed laws preventing any restriction of buying firearms or the size of clips. We also know that every American knows that to win, it is better to have a bigger gun than the next guy.

If all of these things are logical, and I believe they are, then
the most dangerous place in the world is an insane asylum. These people are
sick; therefore, rely on us to protect them properly. After watching the show, “Lockup”
on MSNBC, I would guess that prisons are next in line for being the most
dangerous place. As Grover Norquist says, taxes are bad so asylums and prison wardens
do not have the money to hire enough nurses and guards so prisoners have to be
able to protect themselves from other inmates. Therefore, the only way to make
these places safe for everyone is to give everyone guns.
However, if we do this, we should follow the good old American
rules for living. First, it is their Second Amendment Constitutional right to
have guns so it is justified and will be upheld by the Supreme Court. It is bad
if the government does it—anything the government does is bad—so it would be up
to business people who make money by selling firearms to be in charge of doing
it. Ours is a capitalistic nation, therefore, the best gun at the best price
should be available, which means we should allow advertizing and allow guards
and nurses to sell guns. The only negative argument I have as a liberal for any
of this is that we should give the guns
free of charge so everyone is equal, especially when it comes to protecting
themselves.
We should assign a name to this program to make America safe;
how about “Bringing LaPierre’s South Chicago
to Prisons and Insane Asylums”.
