RENEW NORTH CAROLINA IS SHAMELESS

A series of blatant untruths told in a recent ad on TV featuring Governor +Pat McCrory caught my eye. There were seven bulleted points in the ad and everyone was a lie. Channel 11, +Time Warner, which is a right leaning station, aired the ad repeatedly. The “Paid for Note” on the bottom of the TV screen said, in small letters, Renew North Carolina.org. This politically motivated advertisement appearing on TV in support of a failed governor in a failed state in a non-election year was a surprise. The internet provided other surprises, revelations really, about the sponsoring organization.

They claimed that their reform to the Medicaid program would make it patient centered and fiscally responsible. The way they would do this is by make health care unaffordable for the state and the patients. They claim to have increased K-12 education funding; firing teachers and closing schools is not increasing the educational budget. The proposal to “consolidate, streamline, and modernize North Carolina’s economic development efforts” is to essentially privatize government economic control by putting economic development under a “board” they created. They tell their members, “The board also is expected to play a role in creation of a new, private nonprofit corporation that would take over many economic development duties of the state Commerce Department, and of the economic development board.” The board he is referring to is the Board of Directors of this new “not for profit” corporation—if you believe the “not for profit” lie you do not understand business. These statements are theirs, but the emphasis is mine.

Their tax lie is the standard Republican mode of operation. They lower progressive income tax, but increase non-progressive sales tax, which increases the tax burden on low-income workers coupled with a decrease in corporate income tax rate to 5%.  They brag that this is a 29% tax rate reduction on corporations. What they really mean is that the “working class” can pay for the roads, utilities, fire protection and police protection while corporations enjoy the benefits. They increase career educational programs by advocating career ready diplomas; while they increase, tuition to the point no one can afford to go to school. They do not mention that this increases the income of lending institutions—a replay of the mortgage crisis scheme; they force people to borrow money to earn degrees to enable them to find low paying jobs. They tell us they reformed the state’s unemployment insurance system to insure “a solvent safety net for our citizens”. The way they did this is to shorten weeks unemployment is paid and lower the amount of the unemployment check. They are quick to tell you, brag really, that  there are 70,000 people who will lose their federal unemployment benefits—apparently they see this as information that will make you “feel good” about what they are doing.

The chair of the Renew North Carolina Foundation is John Lassister, who just happens to be a partner in a lobbying firm representing Cisco, N.C. Petroleum and Convenience marketers, and surprise of all surprises, United Health Care. His partner in this crime they are perpetrating on the people of North Carolina is Bob A. Springer, a bank lawyer. Both of these fellows are lawyers, what else?  Of course, the smooth talking puppet, Pat McCrory, is part of the picture.

If you, as a citizen of North Carolina, want access to your Governor, the person you voted for, feel free to joins Renew North Carolina Foundation. You might even get to chat with Art Pope, North Carolina Budget director. It would have costs $5,000 to attend this two-day retreat with the Governor and 150 others; the event was held in June, 2013. By the way, the event was held three days before the final deal was struck on tax cuts and the state budget was finalized. Or, if that is too much money, you can spend $1,000 to have dinner with McCrory and Nikki Haley (R-Gov. SC). You could get a deal by becoming a member or Renew North Carolina by paying $25,000 yearly membership, which included attendance at two retreats featuring Gov. McCrory. That is a real deal when you consider the top membership costs $50,000 per year. However, if you really want to talk to the governor, the alternative is to stand outside his mansion and wait; you might receive a plate of cookies.

The entire story of North Carolina makes me feel sick. How can people be so greedy? They are shameless. Yet, they go to church or look you in the eye without flinching and tell you what they are doing is morally correct.

The current ads are an obvious attempt by this nefarious “hole in the government wall gang” to keep McCrory in power, what they need to fill their unlimited greed. One of the Renew North Carolina Foundation leaders is involved with children’s soccer; my question is this, “How can any parent allow their children to associate with such a person. In fact, how can a child be proud of his parents, if they act like this?

Governor McCrory must like poor people, I saw him on TV putting dried pasta into plastic bags to give to some to them make—all they have to do is add water and boil; by the way, their electric bill for the hot plate is going up 17% and their water bill is going up 19%.
