I was shocked. Gov. Pat McCrory walked across of street in
front of the governors mansion and handed a plate of cookies to women protesting
his signing an anti abortion bill that would close women’s health care clinics.
These women were serious and all he could or would do is shoves a plate of a
dozen cookies at them with out addressing their issue. Raleigh Channel 11 newscasters
acted as if they didn’t understand what he was doing. He was insulting them, just as he insulted the
schoolchildren and their teacher that they didn’t count when he would not meet
them but preferred to be playing catch on another side of the building. He had secretary
tell them he was in another meeting. Really what he was telling them is that he
thought they didn’t count. It was like handing a plate of cookies to those
protesters.
I am here to tell you the radical right wing conservatives
in the State, his base, did not miss the point. I am sure they loved his
insults to the children and the women; they just do not count. The Republicans
are coming off a big high. They trashed the state in the last legislative
session and are proud of it. They are taking victory laps. Look at Thom Tillis,
the speaker of the house that passed all these crazy laws. He expects the
people of North Carolina to elect him to the Senate to represent the State of
North Carolina. I hope the people of the state are not that stupid—I am sorry,
I forgot, they passed laws that says most democrats can not vote.
