OBAMA HAS THE JUICE

The GOP bashing of Obama after his news conference reminded me of something that happened in the immediate past and that is the Presidential election of 2012. The Republicans had the country believing that Romney had won. In fact, they were so convinced they had won that Ann Romney was telling Michele to pack her suitcases. They were so convincing that even I as a die-hard liberal was thinking that they were winning. The post news conference TV talking heads and interviewees were starting to convince me that Obama has not been so unable to pass his agenda that he might just as well pack his bags and go back to Chicago. Then it dawned on me that they have convinced themselves that they have been so effective in blocking the Obama agenda that they think they are winning the hearts and soles of the American people. They think they have made Obama look bad when it them who looks bad. They have not. What they have really done is angered the American people with there obstruction and complaining. My evidence for this is the perpetual low rating congress has received as exemplified by the kickback from the gun control legislation. If they think they are winning with single digit approval rating, they are in dream lead.  

They drown out the meaning of the low rating by stacking town hall meetings with like thinking radicals and listening, by listening to people like Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity on FOX News, which is like talking to a mirror and thinking you hear are hearing diverse opinions. They did that during the presidential election as well. I think the truth is that the Republican agenda as well as their techniques have disgusted the America people.

In spite of what the Washington media is saying, Obama has been able to pass many pieces of legislation and with time, the people will come to realize more and more, that those bits of legislation that did not pass because of republican blockage well come to haunt them like the gun control thing is doing. Americas’ domestic agenda under Republican influence is failing. Obama cannot even appoint a Federal judge without it being blocked. The people know this is because of Republican hate for a “black Democrat in the White House”. They see this not for what it is but as something to brag about. They somehow expect the American people to love them for their hate and blockage of the business of government. In medical terms, it is republican made legislative fecalith.

On the happy side, in additions to accomplishment at home, Obama foreign policy is exemplary even though it takes time for people to realize that we did not have a war in Libya, nor in North Korea, nor in Syria, nor in Iraq, and will not have a war Afghanistan after 11 years. The cultural conflict over women’s right is not over nor is the gay rights battle totally won. The voter suppression and attempts to re-segregate the South by overturning civil right legislation country is not won but is winnable. Under Obama’s leadership, the Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush disasters can never be over but are fading, just as is the Dick Cheney shameful conduct in office is fading.
