There was a spark of redemption from within the Republican Party.
I have posted several times on firetreepub.blogspot complaining about the racketeering
technique of politicians paying protection with their votes for fear of primary
challenge to retain their seats in congress. In addition, they tried to suppress
the voter freedoms, they alienated Latinos and other minority, and they
corrupted government. It appeared to me that many honest Republicans supported
the skullduggery because in several selected races it gave them a winning hand.
They held a majority in the House of Representatives, they could manipulate
Democrat Senate majority leader, and they were capturing governorships around
the country even when they are in the minority. The one big negative was that
this approach was hurting their Republican “brand”. The last thing they were trying
to do was to manipulate the Electoral College to win the presidency. All of a
sudden, it seemed to be backfiring as if the Electoral Collage step was just a
bridge to far for honerable conservatives.
Right thinking Republicans (no pun intended) realize that
dirtying their “brand” was adding up to long-term failure for conservatives. It
is interesting that Reince Priebus for example was recently elect to lead the
Republican National Committee. He is a die-hard Ayn Rand republican—the worst
of the lot. Ayn Rand followers also hold the shadow leadership positions in the
House of Representatives. Real world Republican Party “rebels” who are starting
to emerge and fight against Tea Party rebels—a civil war in the Party. These
recent events are all very interesting but what is most interesting is the technique
they are using to rebel. They are fighting against the threats of primary
challenges at the base level; they are fighting against Tea Party racketeering.
They want to restore honor to the Party. To restore it to want it was before
all this craziness happened and they are using the same techniques the Tea Party
used against them. Maybe, they will dump Priebus and reelect Michael Steele in
the RNC but more importantly maybe our two party system will be restored without
the radical tail wagging dog element.
