GUIDE FOR REPUBLICAN EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

Republican innate hate for FDR’s new deal guides their approach to government. They hate this program because it is altruistic, people taking care of people. Somehow, they see that as something bad. They have yet to explain way they think people watching out for other people is bad but that seems to be the essences of their position.

How do I know what approach they will take? I have been watching them try to destroy that program piece by piece for 75 years. They repeat the same pattern governmental unit after governmental unit, year after year. It resembles inherited behavior. They have imbedded the approach or pattern of action in their mind so firmly that it is ready to go on the day they take over a government body. Here is the approach; create an economic crisis, for example, declare that we have to pay back a long-term debt in a much shorter time then necessary (North Carolina unemployment insurances). This increases the size of the payments.  Cover the cost of a 75 years of pension plans in 10 years (United States Post Office) thus increase the burden beyond what can possible be paid. Borrow huge sums of money to start and pay for wars (Bush Iraqi War) beyond what can afford. Once they fabricate the crisis, they whip the people into frenzy about how bad, and even amoral, it is to be in such “deep crippling debt”.  They pass laws with the help of a few weak kneed Democrats called Blue Dogs, such as we have in purple states. The next step is where they want us to be; that say we have to cut spending to pay the crippling debt. Does it not strike you as odd that every time Republicans want to cut government spending, they want to cut only New Deal Programs, programs that help people?

McCrory is case in point, the new North Carolina governor; multimillionaire Arthur James Pope told McCrory to give state top officials a big pay a raise (more state debt), pay back the federal government for unemployment insurance before the employment crisis is resolved, and then cry about the size of the State debt. I expect they will ask for tax relief for businesses, but that has not happened yet. Admittedly, the crying has not yet gained full voice, but when it does, look for proposals for big cuts in state welfare programs. After all, he has only been in office a couple of days; be patient; give him time to do his dirt.

How does hurting a new deal program help them? How does altruism, programs designed to help everyone, hurt them. It doesn’t. The only explanation seems to be what social psychologists tell us; to satisfy their greed even if it hurts the poor gives them a testosterone (macho) release followed by a big oxytocin (feel good) rush. If it is not innate, how else could they sustain the same tired unvarying old plan for 75 years? Of course, they could have taught their children to be as greedy as they are. Oh, by the way, the government spends some of Art Pope and big corporations’ tax dollars on people (47%) other than themselves (1%) and they do not like it. Most tax dollars go to running government agencies or to the greedy medical industry. In their minds, a typical fair and equitable Republican exchange program would be to save a few tax dollars for much misery as long as the misery is someone else’s—by the way, don’t wait to see Romney on food stamps .
