FUND SOCIAL SCIENTIST TO STUDY GUN BUYING PATTERNS

In this modern age of internet, gun control advocates are asking for registrations of gun owners. This begs the question of how will this help sort out people, once they are screened and permitted to buy guns? The raw data may tell authorities who own guns and where they live, but how will that help to predict trouble? Who among that cohort of gun owners would be prone to violence?

Perhaps research granting agencies might want to fund social scientist (criminologists) to study mass murderers to determine when they bought the guns and ammunition they used in their violent acts.  I suspect they accumulated multiple guns and excessive amounts of ammunition almost all at one time and did so shortly before they committed their crime. It seems a normal mind turned rouge would act this way. This would be detectable in a database but only if that was the object of a search. This could be valuable information if my suspicions turn out to be correct.
